I will not be an uneducated "blind person" anymore!

In an extremely poor area, is food most important to the people while education and human rights become unachievable theories? Education is one of the weapons to break the vicious cycle of poverty. Education provides people with the concept of how to protect their land, health, knowledge, and civil rights and how to be respected. It also teaches them to be the master of their own fate and stay away from poverty. Therefore, other than participating in the building of brick houses and child welfare programmes, in 2000 Christian Action began the construction of rural primary schools.

Going to school is their dream
There are more than 9,200 school-aged children in Tongren County, Qinghai Province, but the enrollment rate in some villages is even low than 48%. The problems are that families in the remote districts are too poor to send their children to study, and the number of schools are not sufficient to meet the demand of the situation. In 2000, we were invited by the local government to execute and monitor the building of the two rural schools and more than 200 children began attending school last September. This project is kindly donated by The Lions Club of Victoria and we will continue to build more schools in the coming years. We believe that only by providing the basic education to the children, can they improve their standard of living.

"My parents told me that I was hundred times, thousand times more fortunate than other children. I will not miss school even if I get sick."

"This is my first school bag and it is the most precious gift in my life."
