Intensive Employment Assistance Programme (IEAP)

Christian Action was appointed by the Social Welfare Department to empower those unemployed Comprehensive Social Sercurity Assistance (CSSA) receipients by launching the programme "Gateway to Success - Intensive Employment Assistance Fund Programme" from 2001 - May 2003. We have served more than 360 persons who were reformed by the Social Security Field Units in East Kowloon and North District.

A new phase of IEAP has been launched since September 2003. The serving districts include Kwun Tong, Tai Po and North District. Our serving targets are the employable Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients, Near-CSSA unemployed people and unemployed Ethnic Minorities.

In this programme, we place emphasis on the uniqueness of individuals by providing tailor-made job counseling and pre-employment soft-skills training workshop. We aim at enhancing their employability and moving towards self-reliance.

In the project year 2003-2004, 294 participants joined our programme. The overall employment rate is over 50%.
