Initiation Programme for Newly Arrived Children

In September 2003, Christian Action cooperated with Delia Memorial School (Hip Wo) to launch this Initiation Programme which is specially designed for the newly arrived children, non-Chinese speaking and immigrant children returning to Hong Kong after migrating overseas. Through this full-time transitional initiation course, we help to foster children's social adaptation and integration into the community, to enhance their personal development and to strengthen their learning experience and exposure to real classroom situations.

Clients Newly arrived children aged 6 - 15, from Mainland China and South-Asia

Programme Content

- A six-month programme includes:

  • Adaptation activities - tutorials and on-site visits to real-life community facilities and services
  • Integration activities - sharing and exchange sessions, and to encourage students to become volunteers
  • Student counselling and development activities - help students understand themselves and develop their talents

* Value-added programme: multiple intelligence development courses / activities, such as personal growth and environmental protection series
