Give Thanks! The government is introducing additional subsidies for low income families with dependents, which includes new arrivals who have suffered greatly amidst rising living costs.

Praise God! One of the two chronically ill domestic helpers in our care has recovered and secured employment. Please continue to pray for the other lady who has just been refused medical help due to her unemployed status.

We need funds to continue our services to new arrival families in Sheung Shui. Please pray that God would provide all our needs so that we can help this community to integrate into HK with less hardship!      6

Give thanks. The government has implemented new employment programmes for welfare recipients through the Integrated Employment Assistance Programme for Self-reliance (IEAPS). Pray that they will enter the job market and break the cycle of poverty through this.

Praise God! Our Youth Employment and Training Programme (YETP) has secured funding for next year. Please pray for these unemployed youngsters as they make attempts to enter the job markets.

Please pray for guidance and wisdom as Christian Action staff resume work after the Chinese New Year break, carrying out our ministry to the poor in the strength of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Please pray for the students from new arrivals service centres as they start the new school term tomorrow, that they would approach their schoolwork in a positive way, amidst very challenging circumstances in which they and their families live.    10

The third batch of participants in the Child Development Fund are about to enter their final year in the programme. They will get to spend the money they have been saving for the past two years for their personal development. Pray that they will reap great benefits after their years of preparation.    12

Hong Kong’s reputation as a world class city has been tarnished following severe physical abuse of a domestic helper by an employer. Pray that the government takes the steps needed to ensure that justice is served!

Tomorrow sees the end of our Social Enterprise Division’s festive season sale.  Pray that our revenues continue to be sufficient to finance our ministry to unpopular communities such as refugees and asylum seekers.      14

Representatives from The United States’ Consulate will visit Christian Action today.  Pray for sympathy and support to the underprivileged we serve in Hong Kong.

Give thanks! The Christmas mail appeal conducted by Christian Action Asia was well received in the USA. Pray that our network of supporters will be strengthened and they will assist us to care for underprivileged children on the Tibetan Plateau.

Praise God! An experienced counselor has recently joined our domestic helpers and migrant workers programme, providing much needed guidance for these women facing difficult circumstances.   18

Following a visit by the Nepalese Consulate improved collaboration with them means Christian Action’s Training Services Division will be better able to support unemployed ethnic minorities in Hong Kong.

The unified screening mechanism to assess the validity of claims made by asylum seekers has yet to be launched by the Hong Kong government. Please pray that this new initiative will accelerate asylum seeker’s status determination.   20

Not being able to speak, read and write Chinese poses great obstacles for ethnic minorities in tertiary education in Hong Kong. Praise God that the government has introduced more comprehensive Chinese language education for students, improving their chances of obtaining higher education.

Please pray with us that CAA USA is able to find a donor to match a pledge by an existing donor in a matching fund challenge, raising money to benefit underprivileged children in Qinghai.

Today the Training Services Division will host a one-stop vocational training service carnival in Kowloon East to promote environmental protection and provide job information to the community. Pray that people will be able to utilize our services and equip themselves to enter the job market.

Two children from Qinghai will arrive in Hong Kong for surgery tomorrow. Pray for the children and for their surgeons, and for quick recovery.

Today is the last day of our “Lunar New Year – Green Collection Drive” organized in collaboration with a local property management company. Pray that we will continue to collect good quality used items for sale in our charity outlets, which finances our humanitarian services.

Christian Action has applied to participate in the pilot project of a Community Involvement Broadcasting Service. Please pray that we are granted the opportunity to broadcast our services through a 13 part radio programme.    26

Let’s pray together for Christian Action UK as they seek to secure more prayer partners and donors in the UK and Europe to support our work on the Tibetan Plateau.

Pray for additional churches to partner with our ministry to domestic helpers and migrant workers. Our desire is that they gain a better understanding of the love of Christ to this vulnerable and powerless girls making a living away from their own homes and families.   28

Our third three-legged Charity Walkathon will take place on 22 March 2014.  Please pray that the event will be blessed every step of the way: from a perfect weather to smooth operations.  We hope to gain support and prayers for our ministry in Qinghai.
