Please pray for Christian Action as we apply for a new site in Tin Shui Wai to set up a training centre to help the unemployed. We will also network with local churches, implementing our faith-base mentorship programme for the children in the area.

Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director, will meet with churches and supporters in the USA over the next two weeks. Pray that all these connections will serve God’s purpose in Qinghai through our ministry.   4

Our Social Enterprise Division has started collaborating with a district councilor in Wong Tai Sin in a new Green Collection Programme initiative. Pray that this cooperation will foster our relationship with the local community and arouse public awareness towards Christian Action’s aims, mission and vision.

Praise God that the Wine Charity Run and carnival by the end of March attracted high levels of participation from the public, and raised funds for our ministry serving foreign domestic helpers.   6

Our Training Services Division will organize Social Service Strategy training workshops. Pray that this training will equip those seeking to improve their career opportunities in the social service industry.

Today volunteers from our Integrated Employment Assistance Programme San Fung Avenue Centre will visit a Sheung Shui old age home to celebrate Mother’s Day. They will be honoring elderly women for their contribution to society. Pray that all of them will come to know God’s love through this visit.    8

Our Sheung Shui New Arrival Service Centre will offer a bridging programme for families living in Shenzhen whose children attend school in Hong Kong. Pray for us as we strive to meet the needs of our clients in a deep and impactful way.

Praise God! Five Youth Employment and Training Programme (YETP) students have been nominated to participate in a one-year on-the-job training programme at Christian Action which kicks off this month. Pray for them as they build their confidence and skill sets.

Please pray that we secure the funds for ethnic minority youths to participate in an internship programme, and gain valuable job experience.

Please pray for the physical and spiritual health of all our staff as we face daily challenges in an increasingly complicated political and social environment. Pray that we care for our clients as a mother cares for her child.

Please pray that God blesses our efforts to serve job seekers and those seeking career advancement as we host two recruitment days over the next two weeks. Pray that our dynamic vocational training programmes will be enriching and bring them closer to fulfilling their dreams.

Our Integrated Employment Assistance Service Sau Mau Ping Centre has submitted a funding proposal to Kwun Tong District Council to extend a helping hand to the new arrival families on welfare assistance in the district.  Please pray for the approval as we seek to bless the deprived with our hard work.   14

Today our staff whose jobs involve a lot of manual labour will participate in an occupational health and safety workshop, further enforcing the high standards of health and safety we insist upon in order to keep our workers injury free.

Praise God! The Training Services Division and Social Services (HK) Divisions will host a job market info day focusing on the health care service industry.  Pray that it will provide valuable information for our services users looking for better opportunities in this field.

Our Mong Kok New Arrival Service Centre collaborates with a church to run English language classes on Saturday mornings. Pray that our children will be encouraged to seek God through their contact with their Christian teachers.    18

In late April Li, a baby girl from Xining Children’s Home born with bilateral small auricular deformities arrived in HK for a medical consultation. Pray that the Lord will bring the right doctors to help this precious little girl. Amen!

Give thanks. Generous donors have provided the clients from our Mong Kok New Arrival Service Centre with monthly fresh food subsidies. Pray that we are able to communicate the message that ‘man shall not live on bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God’ through this programme.   20

Please continue to pray for CA as we advocate for reforms in government policies, and improved regulations governing employment conditions for foreign domestic helpers in Hong Kong.

Our Mong Kok New Arrival Service Centre is organizing a variety of activities such as English language classes, singing, art jamming, various excursions and other interest classes in co-operation with a number of partner organizations. Pray for more partnerships with like minded organizations who want to assist migrant children to adapt to their new environment.   22

Please continue to pray for protection claimants fleeing persecution and seeking asylum in Hong Kong. May God draw them together to form a united body of people, living harmoniously in community with one another even though they are marginalized by many in Hong Kong.

Give thanks. The renovation of Shun Tin vocational training centre was completed on schedule. Please pray for the smooth transfer of equipment from Sau Mau Ping Centre so that the new centre will open on time, and provide much needed vocational training in the area.

Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director, will speak at a church in Macau today, sharing her testimony of following Jesus’ example to serve the needy and marginalised. Pray that they will be inspired to support CA’s mission.

Praise God! One of the two youths from our ethnic minorities service centre will commence with a three month internship at Christian Action in May; while the other one will go to another social service agency. Pray that they will learn responsibility and workplace communication through this experience.

Pray for Christian Action UK, that they will be empowered through our prayers as we stand in unity. Pray that more supporters across the country will be moved to support CA’s ministry in Qinghai.

The scramble for kindergarten places in the northern New Territories has placed children, teachers and parents under stress. Pray that our “Growing Together” project, serving 10 kindergartens in the district will dispel some of that pressure – providing counseling services, and relevant workshops, talks, interest classes and support groups for parents.   28

Please pray that the domestic helpers and migrant workers in our care will face their challenges at the labour tribunal with faith, and cultivate a deeper understanding of the Lord. May He send His angels to provide the comfort and protection they need. Amen!

Give thanks. A private corporation is providing volunteers to participate in our “Home Sweet Home” project which improves the lives of 10 families from our Mong Kok New Arrival Service Centre. Pray that the project will demonstrate the love that God has for His people.   30

The cold, rainy winter is finally over, and a hot summer is on its way. Pray for our marketing team as they have to work outdoors in the heat. Pray that they will reap an abundant harvest, recruiting supporters for our Friends of Qinghai Children Programme.

Praise God! Four more children from Xining children’s home met their forever families through overseas adoption last month. Pray for them as they enter this new phase of their lives.
