Christian Action’s (CA) 30th Anniversary Charity Dinner: Transforming Qinghai, held last month, was warmly attended by more than 200 guests and successfully raised more than HK$1.8 million for the powerless and impoverished children on the Tibetan Plateau. Praise God!

Tomorrow some volunteers from Integrated Employment Assistance Service San Fung Avenue Centre are going to visit the elderly home in the neighbourhood. Pray that elders will feel embraced through our ministry as we strive to follow Jesus’ example.

Our Season of Love Charity Drive 2015 has been rolled out! May God bless this special 30th anniversary limited edition will reap multi-fold harvest to sustain our ministry to underprivileged and disadvantaged children in our society.

It’s time to celebrate and rejoice.
Today sees Christian Action’s annual Christmas party. Pray that all of us will put aside our burden workload for a while; relax and enjoy the precious moment together as a big family; and meditate what “God is love” means.

Winter comes!
Our Centre for Refugees has conducted winter clothing drive. The collected items will be delivered to our needy refugee clients this month. Pray that each effort will warm up this marginalized sector of the community; and may His name be glorified.

Some service users of Ministry Coordination Team will be performing and running stalls at a carnival in Kwun Tong co-organized by district government bodies this afternoon. Pray that the activity helps to foster community relationship and further publicize our services.

Today Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director in her capacity of a Justice of Peace, will visit the inmates of Hei Ling Chau Addiction Treatment Centre which was formerly a Vietnamese refugee detention centre. Pray that God makes her His good messenger!

Sau Mau Ping Integrated Employment Assistance Service Centre held a community carnival financed by Kwun Tong District Council at Clear Water Bay Country Park last week. Fifty of our service users joined and shared their volunteering experience. Pray that more clients will learn the power of giving without expecting any return.

Sheung Shui New Arrival Service Centre will conduct a parenting workshop this Friday: using story-telling as a means to optimize quality time particularly for those cross-border families whose children attend schools in Hong Kong. Pray that this will stimulate their inner drive to learn Christ as a Saviour, and finally spot Him as an awesome Fatherly model.   10

Thanks to all supporters and friends for their donations, time and effort to help five physically/mentally handicapped young adults from Xining to tour HK during their week’s visit last month. They returned home safely with fulfilled and grateful hearts. May His name be glorified.

Our Social Enterprise Division started renovation for a new outlet in Tuen Mun Parklane Square this week. Pray that the work will finish on schedule and be on time for the festive season and successfully capture attention within the district.

A Christmas party co-organized with another charity agency will be held at our New Arrival Services Mongkok Centre to bring joy and love to our deprived centre users, particularly the single parents with two-way permits (between mainland China and HK) and their kids. Pray that all of them feel community’s love and care when we model ourselves on Jesus Christ.

Today sees the final phase of Migrant Health Matters, an initiative co-organized with other NGOs to promote community health awareness among the domestic migrant workers in HK. Pray that the participants will understand God is love and He cares for both their physical and spiritual health.   14

Give thanks to God! Qun, aged 3 from Xining Children’s Home with rare congenital severely deformed wrists and ankles, has recovered quickly after two surgeries in past two months. Pray for her continued steady post-surgery progress.

Today a forum is co-organized by Qinghai Children Welfare Association and CA at Huangnan Children’s Home. It features speeches by Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director and professors from Chinese University of Hong Kong. Pray that closer collaboration between Qinghai and Hong Kong will be established to promote the children welfare in one of the poorest provinces of China.   16

Training Services Division and Integrated Employment Assistance Service Sau Mau Ping Centre co-organize a job seeking workshop today. Pray that welfare beneficiaries will muster up the courage and be better equipped to re-enter the job market and become self-reliant.

Social Enterprise Division will conduct two “Green Collection” activities in some private housing estates this month. Pray that more public awareness will be aroused to donate some good-quality used items to us for resale to support our ministry in Hong Kong.   18

Our Ministry Coordination Team in Tin Shui Wai will partner with churches in the district to host an outdoor community carnival at Tin Tsz Estate tomorrow. Please bless the collaboration will further strengthen our district network, and more people will respond to His call and seek Him.

Training Services Division and New Arrival Service Centre run a series of health and beauty workshops tailored for the women in Sheung Shui this December. Pray that we will contribute a part in better preparing them for an all-round adaptation to a new home in Hong Kong.   20

Forty youngsters under our Ministry Coordination Team were recruited to join a public-funded initiative: how to start a handicraft business. They are intensively attending some crafts classes this month. Pray that they will unfold their potentiality after it, better use their talents; and cherish how special they are as God’s handicrafts. Amen!

Many children from our new arrival service centres will return to their hometown during the holidays since most of their parents have to work and they will be left home alone. Pray that they will have a safe trip to and from mainland China.   22

Our Ethnic Minorities Integrated Services team has celebrated respectively with clients at Woosung Street Centre and Shine Centre. Pray that the participants, ethnic minorities and locals alike, will seize the opportunities to learn more from each other in terms of culture and custom. And they will readily get integrated into greater Hong Kong’s community.

Our Ministry Coordination Team is partnering with church network to recruit mentors for the phase-5 Child Development Fund mentorship programme in Sai Kung/Tsueng Kwan O. May God’s hand be there to connect the right mentor-and-mentee matching and inspire our next generation to seek Him through this 3-year initiative.

Two youngsters of the Action S5 Scheme have started their 1-year on–the-job training programme at Christian Action since mid-November. Pray that they will gain the valuable exposure in real workplace and grow their confidence and discipline through the programme.

Our Ethnic Minorities Integrated Services team attended a forum organized by Equal Opportunities Commission in late November sharing the concern over the education and employment of the ethnic minorities. Pray that local government will be more sensitive and proactive in making related policy addressing the plight of this sector of our community.   30
