Our Centre For Refugees is facing an acute manpower shortage, financial constraints and the change in UNHCR’s restructuring mechanism.  May God guide the team to move on with love, faith and hope as we follow Jesus Christ’s example.

Praise God!  Our new outlet in Tuen Mun Parklane Square opened as scheduled. Pray that more people will understand their purchase at the outlet is a direct support to our ministry for the poor and needy in HK.  Every cent counts.

Our New Arrival Sheung Shui Service Centre will conduct a series of classes every Tuesday this month for women service users to learn different ways to share good times with the single seniors in the district.  Pray that all of them will benefit from this interaction and learn the power of serving.   6

Christian Action Asia (USA) will start a Facebook Ad Campaign. Pray that more people will be introduced and get updates about our China Programme through this virtual platform. Please like the page.

A local part-time staff member joined our Qinghai office to render technical IT support.  Pray that this will improve communication between the two places; and improve overall office efficiency.

Many children from our New Arrival Service Centres will sit for their mid-term examinations.  Pray that all of them will concentrate on their studies and attain the best results they deserve.

Today our Training Services Division will host a carnival in Kwai Shing East Estate sponsored by the Estate Management Advisory Committee.  Pray the function will foster community integration, promote our Employees Retraining Board’s training programmes and empower more job seekers in the district.   10

Four bed-stridden adults, who are physically/emotionally handicapped, in Xining’s Social Welfare Institute need more professional intensive care.  Pray that their nursing needs will be better catered for when we partner with the local authority to provide better social welfare protection to the vulnerable; and people will accept our Lord as a father to the fatherless.

We are preparing proposals for the Employees Retraining Board (ERB) for the 2016/17 training programmes. Pray that all of them will be approved and deeply impact the job seekers who attend.

Our Ethnic Minorities Integrated Service team has conducted some cultural sensitivity training programmes for social workers and frontline staff of related government departments or other NGOs in the past two months.  Pray that all these steps will enhance their understanding about cultural variations in different ethnic minority groups; and embrace our community with love and concern.

Echoing recent recommendations of the Director Audit's Report, a service review discussion will be held today between the Social Welfare Department and all agencies engaged in the Integrated Employment Assistance Programme for Self-reliance.  Pray that it will optimize this city-wide initiative to uplift the service users; and they will re-enter the job market with courage and strength.   14

Upon completing the craft classes, 30 youngsters under our Ministry Coordination Team will sell their hand-made products in a Sai Kung bazaar this Saturday.  Pray that their unlocked potential and creativity will brighten up the community.

Today a private enterprise will come to our New Arrival Mong Kok Service Centre to celebrate Chinese New Year and give red packets to 55 children from our single-parent-family clients.  Pray that they feel the community love and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding.

Christian Action will be supporting the Manna Conference to be held today that advocates caring support for the marginalized and the oppressed in the city.  May God instill, inspire and impart His word to every Christian’s heart; and jointly spread love and concern as a whole body.

This month our Ethnic Minorities Integrated Service Centre will start recruiting and then training 5 to 8 part-time Youth Ambassadors.  Pray that they will reach out to the younger generation of our targeted ethnic groups (such as Pakistanis, Nepalese, Thai and Indians) and promote racial harmony.     18

May God empower our domestic migrant workers programme team who will launch the quarterly outreach initiative this week. Pray that this programme will educate the migrant workers about their basic rights and access to justice in case they face any abuse or injustice.

Our Social Enterprise Division will go to a kindergarten in Tuen Mun today to promote our “Green Collection Programme”.  Pray that our name will be spread wider and further across the territory so that the public will realize that their donation of nice used items is a source of valuable support to our humanitarian service in HK.   20

Some youth from Huangnan Children’s Home China studying different disciplines in rehabilitation and social work at colleges are interning in different social welfare institutes for 6 months.  Pray that they will be better equipped to serve others in need with their dedication after graduating next year.

Our Training Services Division is implementing a series of workshops in different training centres about “Tips on Spring Festival Shopping and Festive Food Preparation” in January.  Pray that the trainees will be enriched by these workshops.   22

Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director, will attend the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Qinghai Provincial meeting next week.  May God continue to pour out His blessings to sustain Christian Action to partner with the Qinghai government to bring hope and love to the underprivileged orphans there.  Amen!

Today is the 4th Poverty Concern Day. Twenty youth under our Ministry Coordination Team will join the campaign “A Man A Cardboard”.  Pray that all of them will personally understand the plight of the poor especially those scavenging from garbage and are moved to give out of love and mercy.     24

The families under our “Growing Together” programme face great challenges in bringing up their children who have to daily commute across the border to schools and adapt to different cultures and education systems. In light of this, our New Arrival Sheung Shui Service Centre is organizing a series of activities in January to enrich them.  Pray that they will finally find God as the pillar of truth and wisdom.

Our Integrated Employment Assistance San Fung Avenue Service Centre will conduct a whole-day training programme for 40 service users today.  Pray that the activity will enhance their confidence to move forward to actualize their dreams.

We are planning a Bubble Soccer Tournament to be held in March at the Clear Water Bay Golf & Country Club.  Pray that the event will arouse much public attention towards the predicament of the most marginalized in the city; and join us to raise funds for our Centre for Refugees and Domestic Migrant Workers programme.   28

Our Ministry Coordination Team submitted a proposal to a private fund to sustain a holistic personal and career development programme for the youth.  Pray for favour and a successful outcome so that more young lives will be changed for the better through this initiative.

Our Social Enterprise Division has launched the “Green Collection Charity Drive” at different private housing estates in various districts of HK this month.  Pray that excellent second-hand stuff will be gathered before the traditional Chinese New Year household clean-up; and re-sold in our charity outlets to partly finance our ministry in HK.   30

We are planning to invite different district councilors in our neighbourhood who have been recently elected in the District Council elections to a tea gathering at our Headquarters in late February.  Pray that it helps foster community cohesion as we strive to offer more demand-oriented services to the displaced and disadvantaged.

We will be returning to overwhelm the streets on HK Island again since our Flag Day 5 years ago.  Upcoming Christian Action’s Flag Day will be fixed on 4 June 2016.   Please pray for its smooth preparation; and that many people will join us to raise funds for a meaningful cause.
