Li, a teenager from Xining Children’s Home with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy, will arrive in Hong Kong this week to receive two surgeries in early and late March respectively.    Pray for the success of his surgeries and steady recovery.   2

Our New Arrivals Sheung Shui Service Centre will propose a new self-financed project to 80 different kindergartens in the Northern New Territories this month.   Pray that the initiative will appeal to them and they will choose to use our professional service to help foster parent-child relationships and instill the right life values in parenting as stated in Proverbs 22:6 “Start children off on the way they should go,  and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

Please pray that God blesses our efforts to serve job seekers and those seeking career advancement as we schedule several training info days across the city this month. Pray that our dynamic vocational training programmes will be enriching and bring them closer to fulfilling their dreams.    4

Christian Action (CA) will open a community sale charity outlet at Tin Shui Wai MTR Station. Pray that all the preparations, technical set up and communication between different departments will effectively facilitate the timely implementation.  May the name of our Lord be glorified.

Today in the Hong Kong Baptist University Global Youth Summit 2016, Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director, will be one of the keynote speakers sharing the refugee ministry of CA over these decades.  Pray that more young people will be moved to embrace the same mission as CA to serve the most marginalized.       6

The Mong Kok incident resulted in a restless Chinese New Year in Hong Kong and we see unresolved conflict and intensified polarization in the city.  Pray for Hong Kong and that the government will work towards resolving the conflicts and people will seek social justice with peace and love. May God heal us both physically and emotionally.

Our Training Services Division has successfully secured private funding for a community service initiative to be run from February to August in Wong Tai Sin and Kwun Tong.  Pray that this will strengthen the neighbourhood with vitality transcending ages as we try to follow Jesus’ example.   8

This winter Hong Kong experienced an intense cold surge, the coldest since 1957.  Please pray for our marketing team working outdoors to promote “Friends of Qinghai Children” who have to endure all these unfavourable weather conditions.  May God protect them and that their efforts will reap abundantly to support our ministry in Qinghai.

This month our social enterprise’s “Green Collection Charity Drive” will be collaborating with a local private laundry and delivery company. Pray that more channels will be developed to collect high-quality used or new items for resale in our outlets, the proceeds of which support our ministry work in Hong Kong.    10

Since January, an overseas nurse has been volunteering to serve in our Xining Children’s Home under a one-year nutrition enhancement project.  May the handicapped, who are vulnerable, especially the Cerebral Palsy children be blessed both physically and spiritually with better nutritional supplements.

Upon the Employees Retraining Board’s approval of our training proposal in late February, our Training Services Division has embarked on a new round of programmes for 2016/17.  Pray that we strive to offer our clients with another year of quality  training and placement packages that enhance their competitiveness in the challenging job-market.

Many children under the care of our New Arrivals Service Centre will have internal school assessments.  Pray that all of them will concentrate on their studies, do their best and achieve good results.

Due to financial difficulties and the pressure of supporting their families back home, many foreign domestic helpers find themselves caught up in heavy debt once they arrive in Hong Kong.  Some, who turn to short-term money lenders for loans, may easily become the target of unscrupulous loan agencies charging sky-high interest rates.  Pray that the government will be more sensitive in its policy-making relating to the agency fee and provide better protection for the foreign domestic workers. Amen!   14

Starting from mid-March, our Ethnic Minorities service team will provide a series of training programmes to a private corporation selling health and beauty products. Hopefully, this will improve their understanding of ethnic minorities’ needs, culture and customs.  Pray that this will also expand job opportunities for the ethnic minorities in the long run.

To provide our clients with more job market info, the San Fung Avenue Integrated Employment Assistance Service Centre will organize more workplace tours and workshops on various trades in the following months. Pray that we help them realize their dreams with courage and strength.    16

Our Ministry Coordination Team will partner with a secondary school in Kowloon to host an excursion to Ngong Ping. Those 20 invited service users are from grassroots families who may be “confined” to their homes due to financial constraints.   Pray that all the participants will enjoy the activities and cherish love and care from the community.

The Sau Mau Ping Integrated Employment Assistance Service Centre and Training Services Division will jointly co-organize  workshops in the following two days to polish the clients’ job interview skills.  Pray that all service users will improve their self-confidence and re-enter the job market easily and become self-reliant.    18

The Social Enterprise Division will conduct a “Green Collection Charity Drive” in a public housing estate in our vicinity.  Pray for more used items in excellent condition that we can sell through our outlets and partially finance our ministry in Hong Kong.

Twenty youth clients under the care of our Ministry Coordination Team will visit the Hong Kong Observatory’s open day today. Pray that they will cherish the opportunity to explore different interests, widen their life horizons, and finally be motivated to follow Jesus Christ after participating in our activities.     20

A local tertiary institute has chosen our Tuen Mun charity outlet under the Social Enterprise Division as its partner in implementing its Strategic Management Service learning project since January.  Pray that our green collection drive will channel more college students to support us in alleviating poverty and protecting the environment.   22

Christian Action Asia (U.S.A) reaped a fruitful harvest in its Christmas Holiday Mailing Campaign 2015.  Pray for another success in the upcoming Spring Mailing Campaign garnering financial and spiritual support from the States for the underprivileged children in Qinghai.

Our Ministry Coordination Team will organize different activities such as rock-climbing adventure at our Headquarters for the mentees of phase-5 Child Development Fund mentorship programme in Sai Kung/Tsueng Kwan O.  Pray that the activities will better prepare the youth to muster up their courage in time of challenges as God is their capstone.     24

A team of professional volunteers composed of an occupational therapist, a speech therapist and a social worker will conduct a four-day training programme for our local staff in the Xining Children’s Home from 25th to 28th. Pray that our staff can learn more skills and child care concepts to care for the orphans we are serving.

Let’s meditate on Jesus’ sacrifice, suffering and crucifixion.  We also remember the needs of many marginalized and neglected poor in Hong Kong.

Some children from our new arrivals service centres will return to their hometown during the Easter holidays to avoid being left home alone while their parents go to work. Pray that they will have a safe trip to and from mainland China.

Give thanks for God’s presence and provision for our Centre for Refugees to endure the hard time during the fiscal year of 2015/16.  
Pray for His wisdom and guidance as the Hong Kong government deems to review the policy relating to the non-refoulement claims by refugees.
