The San Fung Avenue Integrated Employment Assistance Service Centre is organizing more workplace tours and workshops in different trades to serve the interest of clients.  Please pray that we help the clients gain more experience in real job environments and help them re-enter the job market with courage and strength.

We desperately need funds to support our refugees and asylum seekers’ education sponsorship programme.  Pray that more children of these marginalized families will be financially supported to receive formal education in the city.      4

Today is Ching Ming Festival (aka Tomb-sweeping Day).  Some clients at our new arrival service centres may return to mainland China to sweep the graves and pay tribute to their ancestors.  Please pray that they also come to know the one true God.

Some students will sit for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examinations in these two months which will determine their entry to local universities.  Pray that they, especially the ethnic minority students, will get over the stress of public examinations, concentrate on their studies and achieve very good results.    6

Our training programmes under the Employees Retraining Board are in full swing.  Pray that we strive to give our clients quality training and placement packages that enhance their competitiveness in the challenging job-market year after year.

Prayer answered
Praise God!   Li, a teenager from the Xining Children’s Home with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy, arrived in Hong Kong earlier in March and received two successful surgeries during that short time.  Pray for his steady and full recovery and that he will be strong enough to return to the homeland safe and healthy later.  Please pray this potentially wheelchair-bound person will be able to walk and run normally …the lame will walk.

Our Social Enterprise Division will launch a “Green Collection Charity Drive” in a private housing estate on HK Island during the weekend.  Pray that good-quality unwanted stuff will be gathered for sale in our charity outlets and partly finance our ministry in Hong Kong.   10

Praise God!  Eighty-four donation boxes will be placed in a chain store all over the city towards the end of this month.  Pray that we garner abundant support for our Friends of Qinghai Children Programme while showing love and concern for the fragile children there.

Yan Yan, a little baby girl under our Xining foster care programme, born without ears, will arrive in HK for a medical examination this week.  Pray that she will grow stronger and better, despite the physical handicap, and present a testimony of God’s love for the frail and vulnerable.  Please pray for a potential adoptive family for her while she is in HK.  Amen!   12

A new charity sales outlet will open in Tokwawan Kowloon City this month.  Pray that more revenue will be generated through this new initiative to finance part of our ministries, bringing love and hope to the poor.

Our Training Services Division will organize several career workshops and information days in our district this month.  Pray that the local residents will understand how important it is to improve themselves in order to pursue their dreams for a better life.     14

Our Sau Mau Ping Integrated Employment Assistance Service Centre will kick off the 3rd-phase My Step programme today.  Pray that the initiative will empower another batch of unemployed youngsters to actualize their strengths and dreams; and they will live their lives to the fullest.

Our Ministry Coordination Team and New Arrivals Service team have been waiting for the approval of a funding proposal.  Pray for our faith in His provision and presence as we strive to play a proactive role in bringing love and care to the disadvantaged and under-served families in our community.        16

Our Ethnic Minorities service team will hold Spring parties today and next Saturday for ethnic minority families.  Pray that the clients will feel loved as we facilitate for them, gradually building up a supportive system and be integrated into the local community more easily.

Yesterday eight children under the mentorship of our Ministry Coordination Team were invited to perform a hip hop dance at a carnival hosted by our partner church in Kwun Tong.  Pray that the team will collaborate with more partner churches to deliver life-changing messages to the needy and under-privileged children.   18

Christian Action Asia (USA) has just accomplished a new child sponsorship brochure featuring CA’s ministry on the Tibetan Plateau.  Pray that it will connect and inspire more committed donors to embrace the same mission and vision as CA.

Please continue to pray for the unity in one heart and one body of Christ across the United Kingdom.  Pray that more Christians will respond to His call and generously support our ministry helping the disadvantaged and displaced children on the Tibetan Plateau.   20

We are seeing more cases of assault and false accusations against foreign domestic workers. Pray that our paralegal and critical intervention team can continue to help them access justice.  We need all the support and donations we can get.

The Strategic Management Service-Learning project conducted in our Tuen Mun charity outlet by a local tertiary institute will end this month.  Pray that we will benefit from this study and channel more college students to support us in alleviating poverty and protecting our environment.     22

Thanks should be given to the celebrity patron and designer for their full support of Christian Action’s Flag Day.  Please keep on praying for sound communication, coordination and for the 3,000 volunteers for the big day on 4 June.

Today our Sheung Shui New Arrivals Service Centre will organize a school visit for a group of 180 cross-border children and their families.  Pray for us as we strive to meet the needs of our clients in a deep and impactful way.   24

About 20 mentee students under our Child Development Fund programme attended a seminar featuring the plight of world famine yesterday.  Pray that they will cherish the gift of giving, dig deeper into their spirituality and decide to walk on a God-pleasing road in future.

May God bless our staff working in humanitarian programmes especially those who have newly joined.  Pray for His presence, courage and faith to overcome the challenges ahead and strive to optimize services for the refugees and foreign domestic helpers with our very scarce resources.      26

A new edition of Christian Action’s Staff Newsletter was rolled out in March.  Pray that this will better connect CA as our staff are scattered over the territories in different centres serving the most fragile and needy.

Despite the city’s adverse atmosphere, may God bless our Centre for Refugees to strive and serve the really marginalized sector in our community with His courage and strength.    Pray for His wisdom and perspective for our government in considering its position as a signatory to the Convention Against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatments or Punishment.   28

Our Social Enterprise has started screening the summer interns since mid-March.  May God connect more committed and competent undergrads from local tertiary institutes to embrace the same aims and mission as ours.

A new initiative - “After-School Child Care Service” will start from early May at our Headquarters.  25 needy primary school children in our neighbourhood will be served.  Pray that our services will lessen the burden of the grass-roots families in looking after their children.      30

Forty student mentees under our mentorship programme in Kwun Tong and Sai Kung/Tseung Kwan O District participated in an orienteering activity in the city last week and another 40 will play the game today.  Pray that they will eventually learn that God’s Word gives direction in life and shows the path God wants them to be on.
