Christian Action (CA) has been following Jesus Christ’s model of embracing the disadvantaged children in Hong Kong and Qinghai; and delivering love and hope to them for decades.  Please pray that more supporters will join us sharing the same mission and vision as ours.  Amen!

Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director, planted many seeds at her recent vision sharing trip to the USA.  Pray that they will flourish into some substantial supportive network for our ministry to underprivileged children on the Tibetan Plateau, one of the impoverished regions in China.

This month marks the start of a sponsored after school care service held at our headquarters.  Pray that the initiative will effectively enable parents from the grass-roots families to take up stable employment to support their families.

Marvelous News!  Today is Christian Action’s flag day.
After 5 years, we have come back to overwhelm the streets on HK Island this morning.  Hundreds of our social services users join us as volunteers on this big day.  Pray that the event will further arouse public awareness towards our ministries and draw people from all walks of life to support us for a meaningful cause.

Give thanks to all volunteers/supporters contributing to CA’s flag day.  Our New Arrivals Mongkok Service Centre clients volunteered for CA’s flag sale on HK island yesterday morning and then visited the Fireboat Alexander Grantham Exhibition Gallery a parent-and-kid activity in the afternoon.  Pray that they will also understand the power of giving: “he who helps others will be helped himself.”  Proverbs 11:2   6

Prayer answered
Yan Yan, the little baby girl from our Xining Children’s Home with bilateral microtia and atresia, returned home with corrective hearing devices after her medical examination in HK last month.  Pray that her hearing will improve and she will find a forever family who loves her.

Caleb Muyang, who was adopted from Xining Children’s home, will undertake a spinal cord de-tethering surgery in the States this month.  Pray for the best surgeon and professional team to heal him and that Caleb will grow strong and brave enough to bear the potential challenges ahead. May God give him a quick and steady recovery after the surgery.

Our Social Enterprise Division continued to collaborate with a well-established bank to launch a green collection drive at its different bank buildings across the city this week.   Pray that more high-quality items such as household items, clothes and other useful things will be collected; so that we can sell them through our outlets and partially finance our charity services.

Today is the Dragon Boat Festival!
May God bless Christian Action’s staff to rest in His word: “Be quiet and know that I am God”  Psalms  46:10  during this public holiday.  Pray that we will all be empowered with His wisdom and strength to withstand any expected or unexpected challenges ahead in unity.

Yesterday Christian Action Asia (USA) embarked on a vision trip to Qinghai for a week.  Pray that our guests and supporters will be personally touched by the plight of the disabled and abandoned children and be driven to support our “Friends of Qinghai” programme both spiritually and financially in future.

Many children under the care of our New Arrival Service Centres will take their internal final school examinations this month.  Pray that all of them will work hard to achieve their best results.    12

A new edition of Christian Action’s Friends of Qinghai Children 2015 Annual Report was rolled out in mid-May.  Pray that this will effectively bridge the info gap between our supporters and CA. More friends will join us to bring hope and love to the abandoned and disabled children in one of China’s poorest provinces.

Last month our San Fung Avenue Integrated Employment Assistance Service Centre started to launch a new regular work exposure for two service users at our Sheung Shui centre running an Employees Retraining Board programme. Pray that the beneficiaries will derive better understanding from this exposure with strength and courage; and then secure an employment soon.   14

Please pray for the students completing the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination especially the youth under the care of our ethnic minorities service team that they will discover their passion and direction in life, and learn that God has a plan to prosper them.

Our New Arrival Mongkok Service Centre has proposed to conduct a summer programme with a partner church in Kowloon City.  Pray that the potential collaboration will flourish into a long-term relationship to serve the needy and vulnerable families in the district this summer and beyond.   16

Training Services Division will host several activities sharing job information, training and retraining programmes under the Employees Retraining Board in Kowloon East this month.  Pray that the job seekers will seize the opportunity to optimize local resources to enrich themselves and realize their dreams.

Seven fresh university graduates majoring in social worker, geriatric service and counseling from our Huangnan Children’s Home have secured employment in their specialties.

Today sees the celebration of the World Refugee Day co-organized by partner churches and CA at the Vine Church.  Jeffrey Andrews will be sharing on behalf of CA. Pray that the activity will present a positive image of the refugees/torture claimants in HK in the midst of the negative and hostile news about them in the city.

Five volunteers from our Sau Mau Ping Integrated Employment Assistance Service Centre are committed to serve once weekly for 9 months in a Shun Tin private elderly residential home.  Today they will accompany 20 to 30 aged residents (including some in wheel-chairs) in a park excursion.  Pray that this experience will better equip them to re-enter the job market with confidence and skills.

Pray that more people will visit our Christian Action Asia (USA) Facebook and be inspired and tuned in to our China Programme  through this virtual platform.  Eventually it will become an enthusiastic support to our ministry on the Tibetan Plateau.    22

The HK government has just completed a public consultation on retirement protection scheme.  Pray for His presence and perspective for the best solution to cater for an ageing population.

Our Information Technology department is working out an online recurring donation platform. Pray that the project will smoothly integrate online payment, accounting, donations and other necessary components into our system and be successfully launched next week.     24

Today about 30 youth mentees under our Child Development Fund programme will learn how to massage the elderly.  Pray that the initiative will effectively help deliver the love language of touch transcending the generation gap and age.       26

Our New Arrivals Sheung Shui Centre and San Fung Avenue will undertake organizational restructuring to optimize our supportive system for the residents in vicinity, one of the most needy districts in HK. Pray for the successful and smooth transformation.    28

Pray that more Christians from different churches will walk with us to facilitate regular classes and workshops for our Domestic Migrant Workers programme.  Let’s be the light in the city bringing hope and love to those who are far away from their hometown facing great challenges in their lives.

Our Shine Centre offering support services for ethnic minorities in Tuen Mun has decided to vacate half of its present site and move upstairs in the same building.  Pray for a Godly connection and provision of a kitchen facility so that we can conduct regular gatherings for our female service users.     30

The Sau Mau Ping Ministry Coordination Team received a gold award for volunteer service from the Social Welfare Department for collaboratively contributing over 10,000 hours of volunteer service to the community in 2015.  Pray that more people will join us to embrace the power of giving.
