Our San Fung Avenue Integrated Employment Assistance Service moved to Sheung Shui early this month.  Pray that we will continue to provide more need-oriented programmes to the unemployed in one of the most impoverished districts of HK.

Congratulations!
Our Social Enterprise Division successfully secured public funding last month to open a new community sales outlet at the MTRC Tin Shui Wai Station.  Pray that it will provide an alternative for the community to enjoy shopping at our charity outlets for a meaningful cause as the returns will partially finance our ministry in HK and Qinghai.

Praise God!
Two groups of overseas medical professionals visited Xining Children’s Home in July.  May God touch the hearts of more compassionate and competent volunteers to embrace our mission of serving the poor and disabled children on the Tibetan Plateau after seeing our work there and partner with us to honour His name.

Give thanks to the volunteers from Kowloon City Baptist Church who spend some of their time at our Headquarters to play, sing, share bible stories and desserts every Friday during the summer for 30 kids attending our after-school programme.
Pray that every participant enjoys the precious time together and thus promote a stronger community network.

Being financially supported by the Rotaract Club, our Centre for Refugees has restarted a summer programme for the refugee children since the end of July, which was suspended for 3 years due to economic constraints.  Pray for His provision of accessible educational and recreational opportunities for this marginalized sector.

Today twenty families from Sau Mau Ping Integrated Employment Assistance Service Centre are granted a chance to select 15 books free of charge at a charity book fair.  Pray that the beneficiaries will feel embraced by the community as we try to network and let them understand how deep His love is!

Today is the Double Seven Festival (Chinese Valentine’s Day).  Pray that more people will meditate and practise the love message of Our Lord for a purpose-driven life through serving and giving.   10

Thanks should be given to a private enterprise that collaborates with us to conduct a month-long green collection drive at its office this month.  Pray that more excellent items will be collected for resale in our outlets; and then finance our humanitarian services.

Please pray for Christian Action Asia (USA) as they strive to link up with more generous supporters across the States to meet their matching challenge of US$225,000 to help disabled and needy children in Qinghai.  Pray that more donors and prayer warriors will be called upon to join our ministry in Qinghai.   12

A medical delegation from a local university consisting of an occupational therapist and nurses will visit the Xining Children’s Home and Social Welfare Institute from today to 19th August.  Pray that more people will be called to extend a helping hand to the disadvantaged and disabled children in Qinghai.

Today two beneficiary groups of district-based and school-based mentorship programmes under the care of our Ministry Coordination Team will take part in different summer activities respectively.  Pray that the parent-children or mentor-mentee relationships will be fostered via this precious “family time”; and each of them will personally experience Godly love and be moved to seek Him.  Amen!   14

Please pray for serenity and justice for the clients of our Centre for Migrant Domestic Helpers as they may struggle physically or mentally, daily.  May they experience God’s protection and provision so that they will feel embraced in this challenging time of their lives.

The first batch of residents began to move into On Tat Estate in late June, and the entire estate in Sau Mau Ping is expected to accommodate more than 23,000 people upon its intake completion.  May God abundantly shower His wisdom and passion on our Sau Mau Ping Integrated Employment Assistance Service team to thrive on enriching our clients to re-enter the job market with faith, courage and skills.   16

Training Services Division has organized different career info days for the residents in Kowloon East this month.  Pray that people in the neighbourhood will make full use of the local resources to enrich themselves; and that our training programmes will greatly prepare them to realize their dreams.

We are planning for the Season of Love charity drive 2016/17 and actively seeking support from donors and partners.  Pray for seamless coordination and the success of the wide circulation channels in the city as it is one of our most important campaigns of the year.   18

Summer holidays will end soon, and so will the summer internship programme of our Social Enterprise Division. Pray that both the interns and Christian Action benefit from the programme as a whole.

The compilation of Christian Action’s bi-annual summary of services is in motion!  It is a time for counting our Godly blessings in these two years and to stride forward with vitality.  May God continue to bless us as we bring hope and love to the needy and impoverished both in HK and China.   20

Our Ministry Coordination Team will host a four-day wild camp in Tai Po for 30 youth mentees. Pray that all the participants will grasp this opportunity to go back to God’s marvelous creation to draw the energy they need.  Pray that it will make a life-impacting step on our next generation, develop their spiritual insight and widen their horizons.

This evening sees some Christians from Kowloon City Baptist Church meeting 30 kids attending our after-school programme and their parents at our Headquarters.  Please pray for these families, that they will understand that God loves them through the services we provide.

Our Executive Director, Cheung Ang Siew Mei, will attend the 9th Chinese Congress on World Evangelization to be held in Taipei from today to 26th August. Pray that this will widen her vision and direction as she strives to follow Jesus’ example to serve as a light of hope to the city.

Many ethnic minority parents are anxious as their children will be entering a new stage in their academic acquisition (whether he/she is a novice to a primary or secondary school) in September.  Pray that our Ethnic Minorities Integrated Service Centres will substantially share their burden especially in Chinese learning at mainstream schools.  And they will muster up their courage and perseverance to overcome the challenges ahead.     24

The preparation of Teresa - The Musical, our charity fundraising event to be launched on 9 September is in full swing now.  May God guide each of our steps or links with different corporations and individuals so that the proceeds will be maximized to aid the disadvantaged children in China.  Meanwhile the underprivileged kids in HK will be sponsored to enjoy the drama by generous donors.  Pray that all the seats will be fully occupied.

We will plan a vision trip to Qinghai in October for an International School in HK.  Pray that our guests and supporters will understand the plight of the children there and be deeply motivated to embrace our missions through donation, prayers or networking support in future.   26

Our Mong Kok New Arrival Service Centre is supported by different partner churches and enterprises to run a variety of summer programmes such as museum visits, tutorial classes and fun or lunch time activities at a private club house during the summer holidays.  Pray that our children will feel treasured by the community as well as our Lord.

Christian Action Asia (USA) and our HK Corporate Development team will hold a fund raising dinner in September.  Pray that all preparations will go well leading to a successful charity dinner connecting more people to join us bringing love and care to the deprived children in Qinghai.    30

Training Services Division has conducted several seminars to promote its Employees Retraining Board’s training programmes in various fields such as housekeeping, floristry, clerical work and commerce this month.  Pray that we help to empower the unemployed or underemployed through the job-market-oriented training programmes.

The school bell will ring soon.  Please pray that all students in our faith-based mentorship programmes will be refreshed and recharged after the summer holidays.   Pray that they will cherish the experience gained and the contact with our staff will stimulate their desire to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”  Proverbs 22:6
