School bells ring in most schools of Hong Kong and Qinghai today.  Pray that the Lord bless all students to be recharged and replenished after a long vacation.  We pray that He would personally guide them to walk in His way, and that they ultimately dare to dream and live to their fullest.     2

Our ethnic minorities service team will run 14-15 tutorial classes supporting the student clients in different areas especially aiding them in learning Chinese.  Pray that the beneficiaries will be empowered to persevere in their studies despite the challenges ahead.

About 30 youth from grass-roots families will take part in a two-day adventure camp over the weekend.  May God bless them to have a wonderful trip that moves them to seek God and allow Him to be in the driver’s seat of their life journey.   4

Our Mong Kok New Arrival Services Centre has successfully secured public funding to sustain a new community-based afterschool learning and support service for about 1000 students in the upcoming 2016/17 school year.  Pray that we strive to lessen the grass-roots families’ burden of taking care of their children as they have to work long hours to make ends meet.

Being stranded in Hong Kong awaiting resettlement in other countries, refugee children desperately need financial support so as to attend school when the new school term starts this week.  Please pray for them.

The Training Services Division will run a workshop for our frontline staff working in different social service centres to better equip them with essential communication skills.  Pray that we continue to serve the ever-changing community with passion and care year after year.

After moving into Sheung Shui, our former San Fung Avenue Integrated Employment Assistance Service Centre has been renamed as Sheung Shui Service Centre.  May God bless the neighbourhood through the team to reach out to the unemployed and new arrival families and become the light to the community.  Amen!

Starting from today our Sau Mau Ping Integrated Employment Assistance Service Centre will kick off a series of programmes sponsored by the District Board specially organized for the deprived new arrival families in the district.  May the message of “LOVE” be delivered across the community through our efforts.

Give thanks to a private club house that generously donates 230 mooncakes to our beneficiaries of the Mong Kok New Arrival Services Centre for the upcoming Mid-Autumn festival.  
Pray that more private enterprises join us to show love and care to the disadvantaged sector of our community.

Eric(18), a teenager from Xining with cerebral palsy will come back to Hong Kong to receive his physiotherapy treatment this month.  Please pray that he will grow stronger with God’s blessing through His angels.  And pray that this wheelchair-bound boy will literally walk into his adulthood one day.     12

Our annual fund raising campaign: Season of Love will kick off soon.  May God connect us with more potential partners and donors who will warmly support us; and in return we will work hand in hand to bring hope and care to the needy and poor in this season of love.

Mid-Autumn festival is just around the corner.
In collaboration with our partner churches, our Ministry Coordination Team will host a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration party for the residents of the newly-established On Tat Estate on the 15th. Pray that the participants will greatly enjoy it and feel cherished and they adapt quickly to the community.

We are launching a used mooncake cans collection campaign with a well-established local property management corporation this month.  Pray that this drive will effectively educate the general public about the importance of recycling during the Mid-Autumn festival celebrations.

Today is Mid-Autumn Festival.
Pray that people from all walks of life including new arrivals, ethnic minorities, asylum seekers and other foreigners will embrace each other’s culture and develop a harmonious community. Pray that Christian Action’s staff will be uplifted to serve the needy and marginalized with a generous heart.

Praise God!
Give thanks to the donors for the education grants that enable the students in Qinghai to break through the vicious poverty cycle through acquiring higher education. Some of the donors will meet the students at the presentation ceremony this week.

Our school based mentorship programmes in both Kwun Tong and Yuen Long under the Child Development Fund will start recruiting mentors from our partnering churches.  May God move more Christians to respond warmly to His calling and then pass forward His values from generation to generation.         18

Over this month, the Training Services Division will organize different info days on training opportunities in various fields like retailing, Chinese Traditional Medicine and others for the residents in Kowloon East and Sheung Shui.  Pray that people in the vicinity will be enriched by different vocational training programmes and they will be greatly prepared to enter the job-market with skills and courage.

This week Christian Action will co-host the Great North West Forum with the Qinghai authority.  Pray that the event will help raise professional development in social work so the services rendered to the disabled and deprived children on the Tibetan Plateau will be improved.   20

Please pray for Godly wisdom and provision as we will submit an application for public funding to replace and upgrade our obsolete computer system so that our office efficiency and productivity will be enhanced as a result.

One of our compassionate donors has contributed a fully-equipped new medical bus to the Qinghai Welfare Charity Hospital.  Today marks the official ceremony of its handover. Pray that we strive to bring love and care to the needy and sick living in remote, inaccessible and impoverished parts of Qinghai.

An online store having introduced our ministry in Qinghai through its circle of influence has just finished its visit in Qinghai.  Pray that more hearts will be moved to raise funds for the ministry.

Three students from a local tertiary educational institute will be interning at our Social Enterprise Division from this month to next May.  Pray that they will personally learn the gift of giving through our ministry.

Over the next two days, our Training Services Division and Sau Mau Ming Integrated Employment Assistance Service Centre will host an activity to share information about jobs, training and retraining programmes under the Employees Retraining Board at our headquarters.  Pray that the residents of On Tat Estate will also seize the opportunity to optimize the local resources to enrich themselves and actualize their dreams.   30

A crew comprising 2 teachers and 14 students from a local international school will go on a volunteer trip to Qinghai in October.  Pray that they will personally realize the plight of the children and are moved to invest themselves abundantly to our ministry in the future.
