Four new recruits joined our Ethnic Minorities service team last month.  Pray that they will adapt to the new working environment quickly and that they will be committed to serve the clients with a unified spirit.

Some service users of the New Arrival Mong Kok Service Centre will volunteer to serve in the public booth sales of our Season of Love Charity Egg rolls Drive on a weekend in this month. May God bless them with a fruitful harvest garnering financial support for our ministry for the deprived and disadvantaged children in Hong Kong and Qinghai.     4

Our new Yuen Long charity outlet opened on schedule in December.  Praise God that the shoppers will derive pleasure from shopping in this new charity outlet and they understand their purchases mean something beyond a festive shopping ritual, but financial support to our charity work helping the impoverished in Hong Kong.

The Sau Mau Ping Integrated Employment Assistance Service Centre has kicked off a new work exposure programme at a nursing home for the aged in the district this month.  Pray that these 7 clients will gain their confidence and skills; and also find God as the only One they can count on at all times.   6

Christian Action UK will hold its AGM today. 
May God empower all board members, staff and supporters with His inspiration and faith and strive to deliver His love and care to the abandoned and disabled orphans on the Tibetan Plateau.  Pray for more devoted supporters to join the Board.

Tomorrow and on 18th of this month, our Integrated Employment Assistance Service Sheung Shui Centre will organize two whole-day talks and visits to different government departments for about 60 new arrivals sponsored by the Social Welfare Department.  Pray that all participants will have a better understanding of Hong Kong and quickly adapt to the new environment.   8

Our Season of Love Charity Drive is going well since its launch in November. Pray that this continues as we raise funds for underprivileged children in Hong Kong and Qinghai.

The Indonesian consulate announced that the domestic workers of the country and their employers are not required to renew their contracts through agencies from 1 January.  Pray that the policy will protect these workers from being over-exploited by unscrupulous employment agencies.

Please pray that the New Horizons Building will be granted to Christian Action as a permanent home for our headquarters as well as training and social services we offer.  Pray that we secure full support from our partners, friends, neighbours and staff so that CA will strive to serve the unserved in action in this area.  Amen!

Last Sunday our Integrated Employment Assistance Service Sheung Shui Centre with 6 other NGOs co-organized in the vicinity a carnival including games, barter stalls and other interesting activities for the residents.  Pray that this event sponsored by the North District Council will further promote social integration, love and concern within the community.   12

A new one-year project in special education was started in late December at the Xining Social Welfare Institute.  The project trains our disabled clients on the Bridge Programme to improve their self-developmental skills and adapt to the community as independent adults.  Please pray for its smooth running. Amen!

Tomorrow sees our Youth Development Service team organize a talk “Prevent Children from being Addicted to the Internet” at our headquarters for 50 parents in our neighbourhood.  Pray that they will understand that we are following Christ’s example in shepherding the needy with love and care.   14

Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director, will attend the Qinghai Province Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference from today to 19th.  Pray that CA strives to maintain good cooperation with the local government to sustainably serve orphans in Qinghai.

Our Social Enterprise Division will launch a “Green Collection Programme” at two different private housing estates in Kowloon and Tung Chung before Chinese New Year.  Pray for good-quality new or used clothes to be collected; so that we can sell them through our charity outlets to partially finance our charity services.   16

Many children participating in our new arrival programme will be sitting for their internal mid-term examinations soon. Pray that they will be able to focus on their studies despite the predicament of facing very difficult life conditions.

Praise God for connecting an NGO with our Ministry Coordination Team through the partner church network.  They have collaboratively arranged a series of 12 regular classes starting this month that aims at developing the music potentiality of our ethnic minorities mentees.  May God’s name be glorified.   18

Our Training Services Division is devising its proposal plans 2017-18.  Please pray for God’s direction and inspiration to generate different vocational training programmes so as to better equip job seekers to fulfill their dreams with vigor.  Amen!

Pray that our Ministry Coordination Team at Long Ping Centre will foster its relationship with its newly-established partner churches, and together impact more young mentees to choose to walk on a God-pleasing path through our mentorship programme.  Amen!        20

Our Social Enterprise Division is collaborating with a property management corporation to launch a charity drive at 144 spots under its big umbrella in these two months. Pray that more people will donate household items, clothes and other usable stuff they no longer need as they learn that this is another means to do charity work indirectly.

The Training Services Division organized two promotional events for our Employees Retraining Board’s training programmes in Kowloon East & Sheung Shui this month. Pray that this will arouse public awareness towards optimized use of local resources for personal development, and that community relationship could be enhanced.     22

Pray that Christian Action Asia’s (USA) Facebook will garner more attention and commitment to our Friends of Qinghai Programme across the States.  A strong partnership will be established to help us to embrace the vulnerable children on the Tibetan Plateau.

The Hong Kong Immigration Department will carry out a comprehensive review of the unified screening mechanism for refugees in early 2017.  May God bless our government to embrace His sensitivity and wisdom to protect the marginalized sojourners fleeing from their homelands for survival and security.  Amen!   24

Please continue to pray for us as we plan our Three-legged Charity Walk in March 2017! Pray for the event promotion, logistics and communications.  Pray that it brings additional support for our ministry in Hong Kong and Qinghai.

Chinese New Year is just around the corner!
Our Training Services Division implemented different events in various locations to mark the traditional Chinese rituals before the Lunar New Year such as preparing the traditional festive food, flowers and Fai Chun.  Pray that we help fill the city with joy and fun for the festive celebrations.

Many children from our new arrival service centre will return to their hometown during the holidays since most of their parents have to work and they will be left home alone. Pray that they will have a safe trip to and from mainland China.

It’s Chinese New Year’s eve.  
Pray for more passionate people, churches and organizations to partner with our ministry to deliver the love of Christ to the vulnerable and marginalized sectors of the community in Hong Kong or Qinghai.  Pray for divine comfort particularly for the migrant workers and refugees who have been separated from their families.

Eric, an 18-year-old, suffering from spastic diplegic cerebral palsy came to HK from the Xining Social Welfare Institute in late September for post-surgical rehabilitation treatment.  He has made great progress and has started walking steadily with aid.  Pray that he will be trained to walk down a flight of stairs and be able to walk and run normally in the near future.

Please pray that a growing number of friends who are committed to our China Program will support the orphans and "at risk" children on the Tibetan Plateau when making purchases through SonGear and smile.amazon. Amen!

Our Ethnic Minorities Service team has embarked on a training programme for ethnic minorities volunteers who have been recruited this month.  Pray that we enrich and empower them to integrate with their Chinese local counterparts and collaboratively become a strong supportive system for future programmes.
