Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director, returned safely from the Qinghai Province Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held in January.  Pray that CA strives to maintain good cooperation with the local government to sustainably serve orphans and poor Tibetans in Qinghai.

Our annual charity drive Season of Love is entering into last month of its sales campaign.  Pray that we reap multi-fold returns for underprivileged children in Hong Kong and Qinghai.   4

Since January, Christian Action has been collaborating with a property management corporation to launch a charity drive at 144 spots across the city. Pray that we continue to collect more quality donations for resale in our charity outlets. And that we collaboratively deliver care and concern to those in need.

During this winter break, the disabled youngsters on the Bridge Programme at the Xining Social Welfare Institute will practice by themselves what they learnt from a one-year self-developmental project, starting from December. Pray that they gradually grow stronger and better to adapt to the community as independent adults.   6

Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director, planted many seeds during her recent vision sharing trip to the UK.  Pray that all these connections bear fruit to become a support network giving love and care to the underprivileged children in Qinghai, one of the poorest provinces in China.

This month the underprivileged families from our New Arrival Services Mong Kok Centre will be treated to Pun Choi (Basin Feast) by a generous donor. Pray for them as they enjoy this wonderful blessing and gift from God.   8

Our Sheung Shui Service Centre is organizing a wide variety of interest classes such as Chinese writing, Chinese calligraphy, yoga and cookery for the new arrivals and cross-border families.  Pray that they will embark on joyous and vibrant lives and adapt to the new environment quickly in Hong Kong through the services we offer.

Pray that more friends in the States will be moved to support our “Friends of Qinghai” programme.  Pray that they will be personally touched by the plight of the disabled and abandoned children and driven to support Christian Action Asia (USA) both spiritually and financially.    10

The Social Enterprise Division will launch a Green Collection Programme at a private housing estate on Hong Kong Island in these two days.  Pray that all of us preserve God’s creations by following the 3Rs: Reuse, Recycle and Reduce; and that it will help fund our charity work in Hong Kong.

Today sees our Youth Development Service team organize a parenting talk at headquarters for 50 parents in our neighbourhood.  Pray that they will learn the essence of happy parenting and understand that “Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from Him.” Psalm 127:3   12

Please pray for peace in the hearts of the refugees, asylum seekers and other marginalized sojourners such as some migrant domestic workers living in our shelters during this festive time. When many others celebrate family reunions, they undergo daily mental and emotional struggles. Pray for God’s protection and provision during this challenging time in their lives.

Last Saturday our Training Services Division organized a carnival at a public estate in Yau Tong sponsored by the Estate Management Advisory Committee.  Please pray that local residents will understand how important it is to improve themselves in order to pursue their dreams for a better life.   14

We are waiting for the green signal to go ahead with our proposals for the Employees Retraining Board training programmes 2017/18. Pray for its full support and that we thrive to offer dynamic and impactful training for the job seekers who attend.   16

Thanks to a private foundation, our Ministry Coordination Team will conduct a whole-day excursion for 50 mentees especially the ethnic minority students together with their parents to the Noah’s Ark this Saturday.  Pray that we will be able to invest in the lives of vulnerable teens, widen their life horizons; and develop their spiritual insight.

Echoing the theme of “connectivity” in Energizing Kowloon East FF01 financed by the Kwun Tong District Board, we will organize a Green Fun Camp tomorrow.  Apart from green collection, barter and recycling workshops will be provided for the residents in our neighbourhood.  Pray that more public awareness will be aroused to learn about Christian Action’s commitment to fostering community integration.   18

Today sees a retreat for the committee members of the Hong Kong Church Network for the Poor (HKCNP).  Mrs. Cheung will join in her capacity as an Executive Committee member of the HKCNP. Pray that she strives to follow Jesus’ example to be as salt and light; and spread warmth and hope in Hong Kong.

In the past two weekends, our Ethnic Minorities Service team organized activities where the local volunteers shared traditional Chinese customs, rituals and food for Lunar New Year with their ethnic minority counterparts.  Pray that greater cultural integration will be enhanced through our effort.   20

This month sees a special February birthday party to be held at headquarters and sponsored by a private corporation for 30 New Arrivals from the Mong Kok Service Centre.  Pray that the beneficiaries will personally feel how cherished they are in God’s eyes through our service.

Christian Action strives to serve the disadvantaged and deprived in the city especially those in Kowloon East where our headquarters is situated.  Please pray that we will be blessed to keep New Horizons Building as our permanent headquarters and that we don’t have to move.   22

Thanks be to God for connecting people from different UK churches through Mrs. Cheung’s recent UK vision sharing trip.  Pray that Christian Action UK will continue to motivate more committed Mandarin-speaking professionals such as doctors, nurses, teachers and others to embrace the disadvantaged and disabled children in Qinghai.

Today Mrs. Cheung will deliver a speech at an international social organization sharing her testimony as a follower of Jesus to serve the vulnerable and marginalized.  Pray that her sharing will inspire more to serve His purpose through our ministry.   24

This Sunday our Youth Development Service team will host a full-day expedition to Tai Tong Organic EcoPark for 50 families on social security in our vicinity.  Pray that they feel relaxed and treasure precious family time outdoors away from their cramped residences due to financial and social constraints.

Today sees Christian Action’s Open Day at headquarters. Pray that we garner full support from the district councilors and residents of our neighbouring District Boards (namely Kwun Tong, Wong Tai Sin and Kowloon City). And they will personally feel our proactive role to offer demand-oriented services for the unserved in the vicinity and beyond.

Hooray!  Our Three-legged Charity Walk, one of CA’s signature fundraisers will take place on 25 March!  Please pray for the smooth running of the event, perfect weather and excellent response for the big day.  Pray that we will raise adequate funds to sustain our ministry helping grass-roots families in Hong Kong as well as the deprived and disabled children in Qinghai.

Today the Training Services Division will run an activity for students in a secondary school promoting its Employees Retraining Board training programmes. Please pray that the event is blessed to help the youth to forge their future!   28

The Sau Mau Ping Integrated Employment Assistance Service Centre will organize a gathering today for 10 young service users that is manned by a university student intern studying psychology.  Pray that the clients will be empowered through this support group to take up new employment soon with courage, skills and strength.
