Praise God for attracting over 900 participants to support our annual fund raiser - 3-Legged Charity Walk x F.U.N. Carnival. They came to enjoy some precious moments, show their support for the under-privileged families in Hong Kong and the disabled children in Qinghai, and raise funds to ensure they are well catered for.

Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director, shared Christian Action’s youth programme at the Rotary Club of Kowloon last month.  Pray that this  raises awareness and moves rotary club members to support our mission to serve the underprivileged youth in Hong Kong.

Congratulations!
Praise God that our Integrated Employment Assistance Service programmes, in Sau Mau Ping Centre and Sheung Shui Centre, have been extended for 2 more years.  Pray for His insight and strength to organize more service-oriented projects to equip the centre users with the right skills and mindset to re-enter the job market with ease and confidence.

Today is Ching Ming Festival (Tomb-sweeping Day). 
According to Chinese tradition, people will sweep the tombs and pay tribute to their ancestors.  Pray that they would also realize the one true God as He’s not remote; he’s near. We live and move in Him, we can’t get away from Him!   Acts 17:27-28

Last Saturday, 50 mentees and their families of our mentorship programme under the Ministry Coordination Team were sponsored to visit a local theme park.  Pray that they will cherish the invaluable family time as the parents of the grass-roots families often have to work long hours to subsist.   6

Our motto is to serve the neighbours to the utmost. We took the initiative to open a study room at our own cost at the headquarters for the students sitting for the upcoming public examinations.  Thanks to the Kwun Tong District Board for its current support of this initiative.

Today is the International Day of Reflection on the Genocide in Rwanda. Though twenty-three years have passed, some Rwandan survivors of this incident at our Centre for Refugees are still deeply hurt.  May God empower them to overcome the traumas and horrors haunting them. Pray for His strength and comfort for these victims whose families have been separated.   8

Today and tomorrow, our Ministry Coordination Team will run an overnight camp at Wu Kai Sha Youth Village for a group of 150 people including the mentors and the mentees of the 3rd phase CDF school-based mentorship programme.  Pray that the pair relationships will be strengthened, that the mentees’ life horizons will be broadened and that they will embrace Godly values and walk in His path through our programme.  Amen!

In collaboration with an NGO, we have launched a free daily meal programme at our headquarters since mid-February for 50 deprived families in our vicinity.  Pray for a generous donor who will support the expenses, which include the manpower for this charity work for a whole year.  Please pray for our faith in His provision and protection to deliver love and care for those in our neighbourhood.   10

Our Training Services Division has officially started to launch a new round of Employees Retraining Board programmes 2017/18. Pray that we continue to offer quality training and placement packages for jobseekers.

Pray that we will gain more financial support through an initiative launched at a department store in Kowloon.  Upon purchasing any items from the store today, if the customers have selected Christian Action as their favourite charity organization from a list of selected charities, the departmental store will donate 1% to CA for every purchase.    12

Two medical professionals from HK including a physiotherapist and a speech therapist will visit Xining Social Welfare Institute in a couple of days. May God motivate more capable and compassionate medical experts to join us to raise the rehabilitation standard for the children ‘at risk’ in Qinghai, one of the poorest regions in China.

Christian Action Asia (USA) will launch a promotional mailing campaign this month.  Pray that it will generate enthusiastic support in the States towards the disabled and underprivileged children and youth on the Tibetan Plateau.   14

Today is Good Friday!  May the staff of Christian Action meditate on the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus Christ.  Hope that we will be uplifted by His word, His sacrificial example and His presence; and that we will uphold our vision and mission with passion and conviction.

In late March, Eric a youngster suffering from cerebral palsy safely returned to his hometown at Xining Social Welfare Institute, after intensive post-surgical rehabilitation treatment in Hong Kong for almost six months.  May God bless him to persist in the treatment programme and that he can walk and even run one day!  May His name be glorified.

Pray that through Our Lord’s resurrection and victory over death, all Christian Action staff and supporters are empowered; and that we strive to persist in serving the most disadvantaged and deprived with strength and wisdom.

Social enterprise’s “Green Collection Programme” conducted two Green Collection drives at different private housing estates this month.  Pray that more channels will be established to collect excellent used or new items for resale in our outlets, and the proceeds will support our ministry work in Hong Kong.   18

Several youths under the care of our Youth Development Service Team will visit an NGO that trains up teenagers creative and technical skills in computer graphics and animation.  Pray that we better equip them in mapping out their future; and they praise God for His creation through their self-exploration.

Local people in Xining will volunteer regularly once a month on Saturday morning to serve the residents on the bridge programme at Xining Social Welfare Institute.  Pray that the interest classes in music, art and craft will help explore the potential of the youngsters; and all participants personally experience the blessings of giving through the volunteer service.   20

Recently the Hong Kong Police dissolved a loan shark syndicate preying on  Migrant Domestic Workers to whom they had lent money at an annual interest rate soaring up to 120%.  May God protect the weak and vulnerable from exploitation.  Please pray for these migrant domestic workers.

Today Mrs. Cheung will participate a banquet for “God’s Love to HK - Vision Sharing from the Government, Political, Business and Entertainment sectors”.  Pray that we help to instill God’s values and deliver His Message to the city.    22

Yesterday and today we secured a total of 300 complimentary tickets for our clients from the Mong Kok New Arrivals Service centre to visit a local theme park.  Pray that they enjoy the fun and family time outdoors, which they could not otherwise afford.

From now to mid-June, our Shine Centre and Long Ping Ministry Coordination Team are jointly running two weekly tutorial classes for 12 ethnic minority (EM) service users in primary school and 12 in junior secondary school respectively.  Pray that this will enrich the fun and skill in learning Chinese as a second language.  After all, Chinese is not an easy core subject for them in mainstream schools but it is a crucial prerequisite for further tertiary education in Hong Kong.    24

Pray that increasing numbers of professionals, such as qualified social workers, therapists and other medical specialists from the Chinese churches across the States, will be inspired to help rescue, nurture and support the poor and needy children in Qinghai.

We have successfully connected with different community organizations so we can better serve our neighborhood and co-organize various free activities on a regular basis such as Baduanjin and stretching exercise for the elderly.  Pray that such partnerships will add vibrancy to our community that we love.

Please pray that more Chinese churches in the UK will be motivated and more Christians from the university student congregations across the country will be called to embrace our ministry in Qinghai.

We are launching a signature collection campaign to support us to retain the New Horizons Building as our permanent headquarters.  Pray for a positive response from the government in reconsidering the NHB’s demolition and that we will garner full support from partners, friends, neighbours and the public!  We count on everyone’s support.   28

Our Information Technology Department will start to choose the right supplier for our server migration to Cloud this month.  May God bless the whole project to be placed in the right hands, to be completed on schedule and help upgrade our work efficiency and communications.  Amen!

Today our Training Services Division will organize a housekeeping seminar on how to eradicate dampness at the Yau Ma Tei Community Centre.  Pray that the job seekers will grow in confidence through enhancing their work skills.   30

Our Mong Kok New Arrivals Services Centre is seeking sponsorship to provide complimentary snacks/lunch boxes for 40 kids who will attend the summer programme.  Pray that the beneficiaries will feel the community care and Godly love through our services as we are following Jesus Christ’s example.
