In June, Christian Action (CA) received over 7,300 responses ranging from corporate partners to clients and neighbours who opposed the demolition of the New Horizons Building (NHB), our headquarters.  Pray that the government will be moved by our consistent contributions to the community over the decades and consider our stay at NHB.  Amen!

CA has been undergoing the registration procedure as a foreign NGO within mainland China.  Pray that it will be granted very soon so that we strive to bring care and hope to the deprived and disabled children on the Tibetan Plateau through co-managing the children’s homes with the local government.     4

Today sees an excursion hosted by our Integrated Employment Assistance Sheung Shui Service Centre for its 50 beneficiary clients.  Please pray that the visit serves as valuable family time, where all can enjoy opportunities they could otherwise hardly afford with their meager income.

Give thanks to a generous foundation sponsoring 50 families under the care of our Ethnic Minorities Service Team who will visit the Noah’s Ark Resort this weekend.  Pray that this helps promote community integration and all participants feel loved and cherished.   6

The Sau Mau Ping Integrated Employment Assistance Service Centre has started a new Ambassador Scheme that aims at establishing a mutual-support system for the centre users in job seeking.  Pray that this would be a good platform to share the gospel with them as well.

 Summer vacation is around the corner.
Our Ministry Coordination Team is fully geared up to launch its dynamic summer programmes!  The activities range from running, rock climbing, and camping to interest classes like photography and cooking, etc.  Pray that all these help the mentees in self-exploration, widen their life horizons and build up their Godly values.

The Social Enterprise Division will launch the “Share to Love Charity Book Drive” at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre over the weekend. Pray that this will arouse public awareness towards our diverse ministries.

Summer vacation has just begun!
Our Ethnic Minorities Teams are fully geared up to execute a series of summer programmes including movies, dance, games, cricket, bubble soccer, camping, BBQ, tutorial classes, understanding environmental protection, etc.  Please pray for us as this is a golden chance to share God’s love with them.

9 August 2017 is Christian Action’s Flag Day on Hong Kong Island.  May God bless us with a successful volunteer recruitment and fund raising so that we strive to embrace the underprivileged communities with love and hope.

The successful trial launch and support from local network  have sustained us to continue the free regular classes on stretching exercise for the seniors in the vicinity.  Pray that we strive to offer more need-oriented initiatives for our neighbours and help promote community integration.

Today sees the 2017 HK Diploma of Secondary Education result release. Students will receive the results that determine their chances of entering local universities.  May God make the way to prosper every one of them; that they personally understand His divine plan and walk with vision, strength and courage.

Last week, an adopted grown-up girl from the Netherlands came back to visit the Xining Children’s Home for almost a month.  Please pray that she will see the great needs and be moved to support continuously our ministry when she returns to her country.    14

Thanks should be given to our generous donors! Children from the New Arrivals Mong Kok Services Centre and the New Horizons Building attending our summer after-school care programme will be offered free lunch boxes five days a week.  Pray that they all feel empowered and enlightened through our ministry.

Praise God for sending the right staff to fill up the need of our China team at the Qinghai office.  Pray that they will quickly adapt to the workplace and help enhance office efficiency.

Two HKU interns are sent to serve our clients on the Migrant Domestic Workers Programme during this summer.  Please pray that the internship will lessen the burden on insufficient manpower; and in return they also gain invaluable experience from the work.

Pray that more devoted Christians from Chinese Church congregations in the UK will be motivated to serve as short-term workers in the children’s home of Qinghai as a response to His call.     18

15 beneficiary children from our New Arrivals Mong Kok Services Centre will go on an overnight camp during these two days in Sai Kung sponsored by a private firm.  Pray that more compassionate supporters will join us to embrace the disadvantaged with love.

Pray that all the children supported under the Centre For Refugee’s Education Sponsorship Programme will be promoted to the next level and that we strive to financially sustain the sponsorship for the next school year.  Amen!   20

Pray that the proposals sent by Christian Action Asia (USA) to prospective donors will receive a warm response supporting God's vision for the orphans, abandoned and disabled children/youth in Qinghai; and more adopted grown-up youngsters will share the dream of  “Back to Serve”!

Grateful thanks to the volunteers and supporters who contribute their time and effort to walk humbly with the migratory domestic workers who are stranded in our shelter centre due to legal issues or abuse.  May God extend His mercy and comfort to these women which they desperately need.   22

Hong Kong is battered by lots of heavy rain storms this summer. Please pray that the adverse weather will not affect our street level fund raising, outdoor summer programmes and especially our To Kwa Wan shelter which already has a problem with poor drainage.  May God richly reward their efforts.

The Training Services Division will host workshops for different industries such as pet beauty and retailing this week.   Pray that our service recipients will be enriched to enter the job market with greater ease.   24

Five youngsters on the Bridge Programme at the Qinghai Social Welfare Institute are coached to map out their future.  Pray that they will be better equipped to grow stronger with courage and vigor.

The Youth Development Service Team will organize a series of core lessons including job seeking and interpersonal relationships for the youngsters of the Youth Employment and Training Programme this week.  Pray that the clients will be touched to walk on a God-pleasing path through our ministry; and all find direction with renewed hope for the future.   26

In June, the World Refugee Day celebration was successfully held at the Island Evangelical Community Church and warmly attended by 120 people.  We hope that the event will make a change in attitude across the city towards the plight of refugees and torture claimants stranded in Hong Kong.  Pray that we will have more empathy for this neglected sector.

Our Integrated Employment Assistance Sheung Shui Service Centre has established three support groups: namely the single parents, women and new arrival women since June.  Pray that this marginalized community will gradually regain their dignity and courage to become self-reliant.    28

Praise God! The Ambassador Scheme (Urban) for Ethnic Minorities Youth has been renewed for another year by the Home Affairs Department which will start today.  Pray that the initiative will reach out to more youngsters and help them explore their potential.

Several expeditions visiting the Children’s Homes in Qinghai will draw to a close towards the end of July.  Pray that all participants personally experience the predicament of disabled children on the Tibetan Plateau; and they are greatly impacted to reach deep into their pockets to support our ministries.

The preparation and renovation of a florist at the Tsuen Wan West MTR station under our Social Enterprise Division is in full swing now.  Pray that the work will run smoothly and it will open in autumn as scheduled.

As our China programme enters its 20th year of service, and looks further into the future, we are going to launch the 20th anniversary luncheon in September.  Pray that more committed and compassionate people will respond to God’s call and substantially support our ministry in Qinghai.
