This afternoon, our Training Services Division will host an activity titled “Soar with you (與你同行 – 一飛衝天)” to promote the Employees Retraining Board’s training programmes in Lower Ngau Tau Kok Estate shopping centre.  Pray that it will benefit the job seekers who attend and help foster community integration.     2

Today Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director, will be interviewed by a local television station to appeal for support for Christian Action’s stay at New Horizons Building (NHB).  Pray that we will get further support during the 3-week public comment period that sustains our stay at NHB to serve the unserved in Hong Kong and Qinghai.  Amen!

Our Ministry Co-ordination Team has run a 3-day camp in Kam Tin for 22 mentees of the mentorship programme under the Child Development Fund this week.  Pray that every participant enjoys the precious camping opportunity, gains adventurous experience and chooses to walk on a God-pleasing path in future.   4

This week our Youth Development Service Team has organized a handicraft workshop to produce recycled and reused products.  Pray that we will instill the love of God’s creation in the younger generation through our effort.

Christian Action Asia (USA) will present our China Programme to different cities across the States this month.  Pray that God will connect more compassionate and committed people to embrace the disabled and disadvantaged children on the Tibetan Plateau with love and care.      6

Today is the deadline for the drawing competition organized by the SHINE Centre to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR.  Pray that the ethnic minority community will gradually be integrated seamlessly into society and contribute to building up a better HK in the future.

Our Training Services Division has successfully secured funding from the Women’s Commission again for an initiative titled “Embrace the Elegant Life” 《擁抱「資芳」生活》that aims at helping 250 women from disadvantaged families in the vicinity.  Pray that they will understand the essence of self-enrichment so as to pursue their dreams for a better life.

Praise God! Some clients under the Migrant Domestic Workers Programme feel cherished as God has sent His angels to walk closely with them during their difficult times.  They were also invited to share their stories in churches, international schools and in other places. Pray that more people will see Christian Action serving the neglected since we follow Jesus Christ as our example.

Today is Christian Action’s Flag Day on Hong Kong Island!  Hundreds of service users and volunteers will join us to sell flags.    May God connect people from all walks of life across the city to support our big day for a meaningful purpose.

Thanks to all volunteers/supporters joining Christian Action’s Flag Day.
About 150 friends from our New Arrivals Mong Kok Service Centre volunteered to sell flags on HK island yesterday morning and then visited the Fireboat Alexander Grantham Exhibition Gallery, a parent-and-kid activity in the afternoon.  Pray that they learn the essence of giving: “he who helps others will be helped himself.”  Proverbs 11:25

Today twenty youth from the welfare beneficiary families of the Sau Mau Ping Integrated Employment Assistance Service Centre are granted a chance to select 20 books free of charge at a charity book fair.  Pray that the welfare recipients feel empowered through our ministry despite the challenges ahead.

Today our Social Enterprise Division will conduct a barter trade in a neighouring private housing estate.  Pray that the residents will positively respond to the appeal and support our green collection programme.

Our Support Services for Ethnic Minorities have been renewed for another two years by the Home Affairs Department which started in early August.  Pray that the initiative will help fill the gap in services rendered to the neglected community sector.

We are appealing for funding to sustain the training for the social workers in Xining Children’s Home and others in Qinghai.  Pray that generous support will be obtained soon so as to improve the overall professional quality of social workers in the long run.

The preparation of our China programme’s 20th anniversary luncheon scheduled for 16th September is now in full swing.  Pray that every minute detail of the preparatory stage, communications and invitations will be carried out smoothly.  Pray that like-minded people will be connected to us to sustain our ministry on the Tibetan Plateau.    16

30 children clients from our New Arrivals Mong Kok Services Centre are attending a series of six English drama workshops co-organized with Pui Ching Middle School.  Pray that all participants will enjoy a novel form of expression; and will master English as a second language in future.

A cancer patient, who once took refuge in our Migrant Domestic Workers’ shelter, has returned home this year.  Her medical condition has been improving and is closely followed up in Indonesia.  May God bless her steady recovery and that she will treasure the precious family time especially with her kids around at present.

Pray for God’s presence, provisions and protection for our Centre for Refugees that works with the most marginalized sector of the community who are vulnerable and desperate. Pray that they will personally experience God’s divine love and seek Him as their refuge whenever in need.

50 beneficiary children from our New Arrivals Mong Kok Services Centre will attend a whole-day activity sponsored by a bank including a workshop to make leather Octopus holders in the morning, a buffet lunch and then a park visit in the afternoon.  Pray that more compassionate supporters will join us to deliver light and warmth to the poor and needy in the community.   20

About 10 welfare recipient families from the Integrated Employment Assistance Sheung Shui Service Centre will join a whole-day activity including a visit to the Heritage Museum tomorrow.  Pray that it will add oodles of fun and sweet memories for them as we try to network and let them understand how deep His love is!

The landlord church of our New Arrivals Mong Kok Services Centre will embark on a bible week (from today to 25th August; daily from 8:30a.m. to 5p.m.) for our 38 children clients.  Pray that more partner churches will join us to minister and instill God’s values in the younger generation.  May His name be glorified.

Our Ethnic Minorities Team is exploring the opportunity of organizing Chinese tutorial classes in some kindergartens for kids aged 3 to 6 in the upcoming school year.  Pray that we help build their foundation and fun in learning Chinese.

From today to early September, the Cornerstone, a HK medical professional delegation, will volunteer at the Qinghai Welfare Charity Hospital implementing lip clefts and palate surgeries for the poor and disabled children on the Tibetan Plateau. May God touch the hearts of more compassionate and competent volunteers to embrace our mission and partner with us to honour His name.

Today our Ministry Coordination Team will hold an over-night camp for 25 mentees in Cheung Chau.  Pray that all the beneficiaries will cherish memorable moments and feel loved and cared for by the community.

Today is the last day of an 8-week “Green Collection Charity Drive” co-organized by our Social Enterprise Division and a private corporation at its prime commercial centre. Pray that good-quality used books and stationery will be collected and sold through our charity outlets, which partially finances our ministries in Hong Kong.     26

Today we will host a novel parent-and-kid day camp at NHB, our headquarters, for 50 grassroots families (totally about 100 to 150 persons) in the neighbourhood.  The camp includes a series of parenting workshops and adventure activities.  Pray that we help to foster family relationships and community harmony as a whole.     28

The women’s support group established in our Integrated Employment Assistance Sheung Shui Service Centre strives to give mutual support to the vulnerable community.  Pray that the welfare recipients will feel loved and inspired to seek God as the keystone of their lives through our ministry.

We are entering the substantial installation stage of the computer system relating to the online purchase platform and new Point-of-Sale system in our florist to be opened at Tsuen Wan West MTR station.  Pray for the smooth procurement process and that the shop will open on schedule.

Please pray that all students under our childcare programme and faith-based mentorship programme will re-join their school being refreshed and recharged after the summer holidays.   Pray that they will stride with confidence, joy and valuable experience gained through the activities we organized.
