Today most local schools will begin their new school year.  Pray that the children under our care in different programmes, especially the ethnic minority children, will quickly adapt to their new school environment. Pray that they will understand God’s plan is to prosper them.     2

We give thanks to the partners, supporters and volunteers contributing to the success of Christian Action’s Flag Day last month.  Pray that more people will join us next year to raise funds for charity so that we may together bring warmth and hope to the needy in Hong Kong.

Two supportive groups: an orthotist from Hong Kong and another group from the States will visit our Children’s Homes, Social Welfare Institute, and Qinghai Welfare Charity Hospital this month.  May God motivate more talented and compassionate supporters to join us to improve rehabilitation standards for at-risk children in Qinghai, one of the poorest regions in China.   4

Give thanks for over 8,450 individuals and organizations who submitted their representations opposing the Town Planning Board’s Development plan (No. S/K13/29) and supporting Christian Action’s stay at New Horizons Building (NHB).  Pray that the strong support during the 3-week public comment period would convince the TPB to let CA stay at NHB and serve the underprivileged in Hong Kong and Qinghai.

Praise God for sending the right staff to fill the need of our Ethnic Minorities Jordan Service Centre.  Pray that he will quickly adapt to the workplace and help the centre function more efficiently.   6

Our Green Collection drive co-organized with a private enterprise has started in August and continues to the end of October.  May God bless us as we continue to collect good-quality used or new items for resale in our outlets in order to support our ministry work in Hong Kong.

Thank you!  A new round of the “English Connect Programme” will be run by the International Christian Assembly Manna Ministry for 30 children and 10 women of our New Arrival Mongkok Service Centre as a new school term begins. Pray that more churches will partner with us to deliver light and hope to the needy as we follow Jesus Christ’s example.    8

Today our Ethnic Minorities Service team will host a prize giving ceremony for the winners of the drawing competition at Tuen Mun Town Hall.  Pray that the clients will learn how special they are in the eyes of our Lord and continue to foster their creativity.

Tomorrow our Training Services Division will host a day camp at NHB, our headquarters, for 60 grassroots families (totally 120 people) in our neighbourhood.  Pray that they will cherish this invaluable time with their families as many of them often have to work long hours.   10

Please pray for CA’s registration as a foreign NGO within mainland China to be granted soon.  Pray for continued cooperation with the local government over our Children’s homes in Qinghai as they strive to deliver love and light to the disabled and deprived children further.

This month our Information Technology Department will begin the selection process for the best supplier for the Point-of-sales (POS) system for the florist shop to be opened at Tsuen Wan West MTR station.  May God place the project in the right hands and provide a smooth process for the shop to open on schedule.   12

We have been implementing the 3rd phase of the special education class to 15 handicapped youngsters in the Bridging Programme at Xining Social Welfare Institute with the goal of improving their skills and self-reliance in daily life.  Pray that our services will enhance overall child welfare, especially those who are disabled and abandoned in Qinghai.

Training Services Division will co-organize several DIY activities with the local community over the month. Pray that more residents in the district will be inspired to learn about Christian Action’s commitment to fostering harmony in the community.      14

Our Integrated Employment Assistance Sheung Shui Service Centre has restructured its women’s mutual support group which will meet regularly every month.  Pray that the beneficiaries will feel empowered and motivated to re-enter the community and job market with self-confidence.

Our Migrant Domestic Workers Programme team is seeking a suitable site for one of its shelters.  Pray that we will succeed to find one within our budget and manage to better serve the marginalized clients who desperately need a safe shelter during difficult times.   16

Today Christian Action will host a 20th Anniversary China Programme’s Luncheon in Hong Kong.  Pray that like-minded Christians will respond to His call to embrace the disabled and disadvantaged children on the Tibetan Plateau.  May His name be glorified!

Our migrant domestic workers team organized their first fun day at NHB, our headquarters, for the clients.  All of the participants enjoyed it very much.  May God continue to send His angels to walk with them through life’s challenges.

Our New Arrivals Mongkok Service Centre has secured government funding to run the After School Learning & Support Programme for about 1,600 underprivileged students studying in local primary and secondary schools.  Pray that we would lessen the burden for these grassroots families, and that they would feel love through our ministry.

It is a crucial time for many refugees seeking temporary refuge in Hong Kong, especially those who are sick and unsure about their future. Pray for His presence to be with them so they would never feel alone. Pray also that they will receive His comfort, strength and vision to deal with the challenges ahead.  Amen!

Over the month, the Training Services Division has organized several info days about training opportunities in fields like coffee making, adventure exploration, healthcare, and beauty. This is to promote community integration and goodwill as we empower job seekers.   22

The adverse weather this summer: heavy rain storms and intense heat has posed a hard time for our direct dialogue team tasked with the street-level fund raising.  May God shower His blessings to them so they reap abundant fruit for their efforts. We need every cent of support.

Our Social Services (Hong Kong) Division will co-organize with an agency on the Sower’s Exchange Programme.  Students from international schools will take part in the poverty experiential workshop next week. Pray that the young generation will personally feel the plight of the disadvantaged and repay the community with love in action in the future.     24

Mid-autumn Festival is around the corner. The Ministry Coordination Team will run several workshops for the mentees and mentors to make moon-cakes and lanterns this week. Pray that they will help strengthen the pair relationship and that the mentee families would have a positive response towards the Gospel.

We are planning one of our major annual fund raising drives, Season of Love charity drive 2017, which will roll out in November. Pray for insight, cooperation and connection with different parties and suppliers in this preparatory stage.  And that we would collaboratively create a new charity initiative that appeals to our potential sponsors and donors.

As an act of collaboration, twenty clients from our New Arrivals Mongkok Service Centre will volunteer in a partnering NGO’s flag day tomorrow.  Pray that this partnership will reap much fruit and help to foster further community cohesion.    30

Today our Social Enterprise Division will conduct a barter trade in a public housing estate of Tin Shui Wai.  Pray that the residents will positively support this green collection initiative.
