Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director, has just returned from the Qinghai CPPCC Conference last week.  Pray that Christian Action continues collaborating with the local government to bring warmth and hope to the disabled and deprived children on the Tibetan Plateau.  Amen!

Praise God for connecting us with philanthropists that share the same mission as ours! In mid-September, 105 enthusiastic supporters participated in our 20th Anniversary China Programme’s Luncheon.  All proceeds will go towards helping abandoned and disabled children in Qinghai.   4

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!
Give thanks to the generous donors giving out hundreds of mooncakes to the clients of our Mongkok New Arrival Services Centre for the upcoming Mid-Autumn festival.  Pray that more private enterprises join us to deliver love and care to this disadvantaged sector in our community.

Please pray that  migrant domestic helpers working miles away from their homes and refugees stranded in Hong Kong feel cared for and not alone on this day. Pray also that they would understand God is Love.   6

We brace ourselves for the Town Planning Board’s final decision to demolish New Horizons Building (NHB). Pray that our plea to stay at NHB is heard, and that we will be able to continue serving the needy in and beyond our district.

Our Training Services Division will conduct a series of activities for about 500 people in our neighbourhood from today to January 2018.  The project aims to promote healthier lifestyles, stressing less sugar and salt in diet. Pray for His guidance and wisdom to offer more needed programmes for the public.     8

The preparation of Season of Love charity sales 2017 is in full swing!  Pray for overwhelming responses from our sponsors, sales booths, and outlets, as well as online sales.  We hope to reap an abundant harvest to sustain our services for poor children in Hong Kong and Qinghai.

Christian Action is conducting a series of training sessions for child caregivers in Qinghai who serve roughly 2,000 needy children in remote villages (including two pastoral districts) of Guinan County.  Pray that we help bring light and love to them through our ministry.    10

Our SHINE Centre – the ethnic minorities service team – has been added to the “20A” list who took part in the Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of HKSAR.  Pray that we continue to help ethnic minorities integrate into the communities with vigor and joy.

Today Training Services Division will host a mega job recruitment day in Kwun Tong, including over 5,000 vacancies, part-time and full-time jobs,  offered by 8 corporate partners.  Pray that job seekers will be well informed of the current job market and are employed soon.    12

Pray for smooth implementation of our IT Department’s plan for the website design and online sales platform relating to our annual fundraiser, Season of Love 2017, which begins this November.

Today, there will be a barter drive in Sau Mau Ping by our Ministry Coordination Team.   Pray that public awareness will continue to rise in order to create a greener Hong Kong, and that less people would dump their unused but high-quality items.     14

Give thanks to Him for sending us a new supervisor for the Integrated Employment Assistance Sheung Shui Service Centre.  Pray for her quick adaptation.  She will lead the team to serve marginalized clients in one of the poorest districts in Hong Kong.

May God bless Christian Action Asia (USA), that those who previously joined its Vision Trips and Vision sharing Luncheon would be moved to embrace our mission and invest in the vulnerable children in Qinghai.   16

A team of volunteers consisting of 19 students and 2 teachers from a local international school will embark on a weeklong visit at our Children’s Homes. Pray that they personally experience the plight of the handicapped and disadvantaged children. Pray also that they would be inspired to support our ministry on the Tibetan Plateau.

The Social Enterprise Division has been collecting empty mooncake tins after Mid-autumn Festival.  Pray that we can effectively use this opportunity to educate people about the importance of recycling during festive celebrations.   18

Our Integrated Employment Assistance Sau Mau Ping Service Centre will organize a local excursion for 50 welfare recipients this weekend.    Pray that all participants will enjoy this special family time in one of the local heritage sites and feel cherished in God’s embrace.

Training Services Division will host a carnival at Kwai Fong Housing Estate this Saturday afternoon.  Pray that the residents will take advantage of the local training and re-training resources to better equip themselves to enter the job market.   20

Our Chungking Mansions Service Centre for refugees and asylum seekers believe “a picture is worth a thousand words” and hosts a photography show: Under Our Shelter in Central and at St. Andrew’s Church from today to the end of October.  Pray that it inspires more people to show mercy to this vulnerable population.

Tomorrow is the closing ceremony of our first-time school-based Mentorship Programme under the Child Development Fund in Yuen Long.  Pray that each mentor-and-mentee pair will flourish into a long-lasting, sharpening relationship, and the youth are motivated to pursue a life of God-driven purpose.   22

Yesterday twenty beneficiary families from the New Arrival Mongkok Service Centre took part in horticultural activity co-organized by our Social Enterprise Division at an urban farm near NHB.  Pray that the message of “Love our green Earth - the creation of our Lord” will influence the participants.

Today sees the kick-off of Youth Development Service Team’s new initiative promoting sound mental health for young people.  Pray that the participants will learn to cope better with stress and adversity after joining the programme.  Pray they will understand God’s role in giving hope during difficult times.  Amen!    24

Pray that the troubled clients at our shelters will not just enjoy the interest classes/activities as a pastime; but also learn skills enabling them to be self-employed when they return home.  Blessed are the ones who cast their anxieties on Him, because He cares for them.

Our China team has revised its curriculum for the handicapped youth in the Bridge Programme according to their abilities and interests.  Pray that we continue to help build their self-reliance and confidence through our ministry.   28

Today is Chung Yeung Festival.  
People often go hiking on this day to avoid bad luck according to Chinese tradition.  Pray that our staff enjoy their nature walks full of God’s creations, get refreshed, and feel relaxed to serve the community with a recharged mind and spirit.

Today our Ethnic Minorities Woo Sung Street Service Centre will host a carnival in Yau Ma Tei to celebrate the Diwali Festival of South Asian countries (similar to the Mid-Autumn Festival in Chinese tradition).  Pray that we would play a proactive role in understanding cross-ethnic variations and fostering diverse and understanding communities.   30

Our migrant domestic workers team is planning another fun day at NHB, our headquarters, for the clients in November.  May God bring His blessings and angels to walk with them to help them cope with the challenges ahead.

Today is the last day of our Social Enterprise Division’s green collection programme that started from early August.  Pray that we would continue to expand our collection networks, gathering needed items to resell through our outlet stores.  This drive helps to fund part of our charity work.
