Give thanks to the men’s group from Shatin Anglican Church who volunteered to paint one of our Migrant Domestic Workers shelters in mid-October. Their service brightened the atmosphere in the centre, even under a tight budget! Pray that the team will continue to partner with various churches and organisations that share our mission to serve the unserved.   2

The acute land shortage in Hong Kong further pushes housing prices to unprecedented highs. Mrs. Cheung, our executive director, as a member of the Hong Kong Housing Authority’s Subsidized Housing Committee, seeks to find feasible solutions to the problem that affects many of our grassroots clients.

Hallelujah!
We raised almost HK$1.4 million from the 20th Anniversary Celebration of Christian Action’s China Programme from a charity luncheon in mid-September, exceeding the targeted amount we prayed for. Thanks for your prayers!

Glory to Our Lord!
A delegation of medical professionals from the HK Cornerstone Association, composed of a physiotherapist and a Chinese Traditional Medicine practitioner, visited the Qinghai Charity Hospital last week and conducted rehabilitation treatment to some stroke patients.  Pray that more professionals will embrace our ministry in Qinghai.

Sponsored by Education Bureau, our Sheung Shui Centre has cooperated with a primary school in the neighbourhood to conduct a 1-year Education & Support Services Programme for Newly Arrived Children since October.  Pray that our service users will benefit from the programme and that people will know us as followers of Jesus Christ.

Give thanks to God for a wonderful trip to our Qinghai Children’s Homes that ends today. The goal of the trip was to specifically to photograph our “Back to Serve” programme and interview some graduates benefiting from our educational grants. Pray that this philanthropic work would gain recognition and glorify our Lord.    8

Our Integrated Employment Assistance Programme Sau Mau Ping Service Centre will form a support group consisting of 6-8 mothers who will meet regularly every Tuesday this month to enhance their self-confidence and parenting skills.  Pray that we would instil Godly values in them as well as enhance their confidence in inter-generational communication and understanding.

Our Seasons of Love Charity Drive 2017, furnished with its on-line sale platform, will kick off this month. Pray for His blessings for another fruitful year and that our ministry would be sustained for vulnerable children in Hong Kong and Qinghai.

Tomorrow 20 trainees from MTR Academy will volunteer to engage with 20 teenagers from our Ethnic Minorities Woo Sung Street Service Centre in a cross-cultural activity known as “Building Good Bridges”. Pray that we would play a positive role in encouraging mutual understanding between different ethnicities.

Today Social Enterprise Division will promote its Green Collection drive at Kwun Tong Community Green Station as initiated by the Environmental Protection Department.  Pray that we would seize this opportunity to educate our neighbours about the importance of “3-R” that includes reducing, reusing, and recycling.     12

The supervisor of Centre for Refugees just returned from a meeting held in Taiwan which strategized over and promoted the advocacy of the Asia Pacific Refugee Rights Network. May His comfort and protection stay with these dearly loved refugees through our ministry. Amen!

Christian Action needs funding to carry out a training programme for the child care workers in Qinghai who serve about 2,000 vulnerable children in remote villages and pastoral areas in Guinan County. Pray for His provision and presence in this project to raise the quality of child welfare in these districts.   14

This Sunday, 6 clients from our Ethnic Minorities Service Centres will perform a dance at a Government-hosted event at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre promoting social integration.  Pray that our service users will feel loved and cherished.

Today we have a hearing relating to Christian Action’s stay at New Horizons Building (NHB) at Town Planning Board. (No. S/K13/29). Pray that the strong support from the community moves and convinces TPB to let us retain NHB and serve the disadvantaged in Hong Kong and Qinghai.     16

Training Services Division will host their annual corporate luncheon today. Pray that our relationship with different trade corporations will sustain us to offer more need-oriented training services to our community. These services help us fund much of our ministry.

Tomorrow and on 25th November, children from the New Arrivals Mongkok Service Centre and NHB will learn soap making with volunteers from two private corporations. Both groups will also enjoy lunch together.  Pray that more volunteers will join us to share love with the needy.    18

Our “Induction Programme for Newly Arrived Children” from mainland China – Phase 2” will end today.  Pray that our comprehensive 60-hour programme, covering the local education system, social adaption, personal development, and basic learning skills will empower them for healthy integration in Hong Kong.

In promoting our “Home.Sweet Home” under the Season of Love charity drive 2017, we invited 20 clients from our New Arrival Mongkok Service Centre to ride on a special tram with us today. May God pour His blessings on us and allow our efforts to reap abundant fruit. Amen!   20

Our Ethnic Minorities’ Service Team – Tuen Mun SHINE Centre collaborated with Yuen Long Public Library and organized a social inclusion activity entailing ethnic minorities’ history, henna drawing, and cultural costumes last Saturday afternoon.  Pray that we would gain more support from our government to facilitate community inclusion.

Our Ministry Coordination Team in Long Ping Centre will establish a Sports Group for about 10 mentee children under the Child Development Fund’s mentorship programme. They will meet 5 times this month to learn a variety of sports, including basketball, badminton, ice skating, dodgeball, and more. They will also watch a football match together.  May God bless all participants, and may they enjoy the love and care from their community.   22

Our Migrant Domestic Workers Programme is planning a fun day on quarterly basis at our headquarters. Pray that the participants will not only enjoy the day, but also learn useful information to enrich themselves both mentally and spiritually as they work so far from their homes.

Among them, “深知你心” (i.e understanding of your innermost self) for the youth in Kwun Tong will start today.
