Our Ministry Coordination Team in Sau Mau Ping Centre has started a series of four-session workshops for parents since late January.  Pray that participants will be empowered and enlightened with Godly values in parenting and cross-generational communication.  May His name be glorified!     2

A new social worker joined our China programme in mid-January and is now stationed in Xining.  Pray for her adjustment to a new environment and for her to help bring more warmth and love our Bridge Programme clients.

Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director, was recently invited by a Malaysian entrepreneur to be her mentor during her recent home visit.  This opens a new door to the network of Malaysian social entrepreneurs, 3 publications such as West Malaysia Anglican Messenger, Christian Realm and School Magazine; and Archbishop’s recognition in Malaysia.  Pray that we will garner more support in Malaysia and that more people would be inspired to embrace our ministry in Qinghai.

Our Training Services Division will present a workshop on “Tips on Spring Cleaning” for local residents.  Pray that all participants will be encouraged and empowered by the content.

To celebrate the lunar New Year, our Ministry Coordination Team Long Ping Centre organized a dumpling making competition between parents and kids as well as mentors and mentees, last week. Pray this activity would draw parents and children and mentors/mentees closer together.    6

The Social Enterprise Division conducted two charity barter initiatives in different public housing estates this month.  Pray that public awareness continue rising to support our ministry, and that together we would create a greener Hong Kong!

Rejoice! 
Our annual fund raising campaign: Season of Love : Home.Sweet Home ended last week.   We have raised almost HK$900,000 since its launch.  The proceeds will support our programmes for underprivileged children in Hong Kong and Qinghai.

Our Tuen Mun outlet under Social Enterprise Division was closed down last week since the landlord refused to lower the rent upon our lease renewal.  Pray that we would find an alternative site for a new community sales outlet soon.

Over the past week our Social Enterprise Division has successfully run several green collection programme events at various housing estates, collaborating with different property management companies. Pray that participants would see this as much more than pre-Lunar New Year Cleaning, but as an act of generosity to benefit the poor.   10

Visits to nursing homes for elderly in Kwun Tong will be organized for clients of our Youth Development Service and Integrated Employment Assistance Programme. A special flower-shaped towel will be offered to each resident.  Pray that all of them enjoy this precious time together.

After lengthy negotiations with the government, Christian Action has been offered more favourable terms for the reprovision of our headquarters. Please continue to pray for government’s policy support so that we can sustain our ministries and serve the underprivileged.

Thanks to our generous donors, underprivileged children and elders from our New Arrival Services Mongkok Centre will enjoy many activities this month, from a Pun Choi feast, to a movie outing, to lai see distribution. Pray that the service users will feel cherished and loved during this holiday season.

This afternoon, our Ethnic Minorities Integrated Services Woosung Street Centre will run an outreach event known as “Knowing your Culture” at a primary school in Ngau Tau Kok.  Pray that the event further encourage integration among different ethnicities.    14

Pray that as we meditate on the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and we would always remember the needs of the poor. Amen!

Please continue to pray for His guidance and wisdom as our Training Services Division is drafting its 2018-19 plan.  We will design more market-oriented vocational training programmes to help our service users prepare for the ever-changing job market.     16

This month, Tuen Mun SHINE Centre has organized several activities for our ethnic minority clients to understand traditional Chinese rituals and foods for Lunar New Year.  Pray that our efforts would continue to foster community inclusion.   18

Our Centre for Refugees (CFR) has rolled out a pilot programme called ‘CFR’s Employability Programme’ to help  recognized refugees to seek jobs in Hong Kong since mid-2017, granted by the Director of Immigration by using his discretionary rights.  Pray that the beneficiaries will regain their dignity, find hope again, and receive comfort from God for this answered prayer. Amen!

Since the launch of the automatized mailing system of our Social Welfare Department in early January, our staff of Sheung Shui Centre have been learning to comply with new regulations and requirements to submit customised forms.  Pray that the work will be completed smoothly and soon.   20

Christian Action Asia (USA) has started launching an online GoFundMe Campaign to raise funds for Phase 2 of our Bridge Programme. May God bless this campaign and bring the finances and donor relationships we need to sustain this life-changing programme.

Four medical cases for teenagers from Qinghai’s community have been sponsored by a HK private fund to receive treatment for their illnesses.  Pray for successful surgeries and treatments with full recovery, and that they would feel God’s love through our services.

New recruits have joined our Migrant Domestic Workers team in both St. Andrew’s Centre and the Tokwawan Centre.  Pray that the team will work in unity to deliver hope and serve this community.

Many new arrival families that have returned home to China for Lunar New Year are coming back. Pray for their safe return to Hong Kong.   24

February is cold, and the flu virus is at its peak.   Please pray for God’s protection and presence for all staff, especially our street fund raisers and those who conduct activities outdoors.

We are renewing the co-management contracts of the children’s homes and bridge programme in Qinghai with the relevant local authority.  Pray for seamless communication and cooperation as we strive to deliver needs-oriented services to the disadvantaged and disabled.   26
