Praise God for the perfect weather for our 6th 3-Legged Charity Walk held at the Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club last month. About 400 people came to enjoy fun and games while raising funds for our ministry to help under-privileged families in Hong Kong and disabled children in Qinghai.

Pray that through Our Lord’s resurrection, all of Christian Action’s staff and supporters are lifted up, just as it says in Isaiah 40:31, “…those who wait for the Lord shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up as eagles…”

Pray for Integrated Employment Assistance Service Sau Mau Ping Centre to grasp His wisdom and strength when they carry out their new initiatives for the upcoming fiscal year.  Pray that we help bring faith, hope and love to those in need through our ministry.  Amen!    4

Today is Children’s Day.  
Please pray for God’s protection for the refugee children’s rights in Hong Kong and beyond. Pray that they will be protected from domestic violence and abuse, and that they would embrace God’s mercy, compassion, and love.

Today is Ching Ming Festival (a.k.a. Tomb-sweeping Day).  Some clients at our New Arrival service centres may return to mainland China to sweep the graves and pay tribute to their ancestors.  Please pray for safe travels and that they would gradually come to know the one true God.    6

This weekend, 9 undergrads from PolyU will accompany 10 ethnic minority children from a primary school to enjoy an excursion “Embracing Nature” to AFCD Lion’s Nature Education Centre.  Pray that the next generation would learn how to treasure and conserve our Lord’s creation.

Give thanks to all professional partners supporting our ministries in Qinghai.  In March, a medical delegation visited Xining Children’s Home and Qinghai Welfare Charity Hospital, giving surgeries, treatment, medical consultations, and staff training in areas such as cleft lips and orthopaedics.  Pray that we could collaborate with more professionals to serve the needy in Qinghai.   8

Our 5-week “Green Collection Charity Drive” co-organized with Yau Yat Chuen Garden City Club ended on 3 April.  Pray for generous donations and for awareness of our name to spread across the territory.  Every bit of support counts!

Mon
Today ends an elementary and publicly funded 8-session swimming course for 9 female clients (mainly Muslims) of our SHINE – Tuen Mun Centre. To achieve this, our ethnic minority team had to make various prior arrangements such as searching for appropriate swim wear and negotiating the most feasible time slot to use the pool for privacy.  Pray that the beneficiaries would feel loved and cherished through our service.   10

Thanks to Kwun Tong District Council for their financial support. In the midst of the public examinations, we have opened a study room at our headquarters for our neighbours from March to 11 May; 10a.m. to 5 p.m.; Monday through Friday.  Pray that we would continue to serve the needy nearby.

Christian Action is fundraising for the renovation of our new Christian Action Centre (CAC), after we move from our New Horizons Building (NHB) headquarters.  Please hold us in your prayers as we are appealing for financial support to continue our mission to serve the unserved.  We are desperately in need of your help and prayers.    12

In late February, violence broke out in Sri Lanka, and the government declared a 10-day nationwide state of emergency.  This has added stress to the lives of many Sri Lankan helpers, as their homeland is in chaos.  May God comfort them and relieve their worry and burden, especially those two Sri Lankan helpers dwelling in our shelter under the Migrant Domestic Workers programme.  They will soon regain hope and strength to face the uncertainty and challenges ahead. Amen!

We will launch an initiative integrating “environmental conservation” and barter mechanism in Tin Yiu Estate tomorrow.  Pray that the idea of “Treasure Our Earth’s Resources” will be instilled into the public so that together we would build a better and greener future.   14

80 beneficiary children from Mongkok Service Centre and our headquarters will be sponsored by a local bank to enjoy watching a movie in the morning followed by Korean BBQ buffet lunch today.  Pray that more committed donors will join us to embrace the needy of their community with love.

Today our Ministry Coordination Team Long Ping Centre will organize a career talk for the mentors and mentees of the 3rd batch school-based mentorship programme.  Pray that the youth will be better coached to forge their future careers with Godly values.   16

Some students under the care of our youth programmes are sitting for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examinations in these two months, which will determine their entry to local universities.  Pray that they would overcome the stress of public examinations, concentrate on their studies, and achieve good results they deserve.

Christian Action Asia will be running a publicity campaign on Facebook.  Pray that more people will visit, get inspired, and tuned in to our Friends of Qinghai Programme. Pray that support will grow as a result of this effort.   18

Today and tomorrow our Training Services Division will collaborate with Recruit to launch a 2-day recruitment in Kai Tin.  Pray that attendants would be well prepared to enter the job market with skills and confidence.  Amen!

Our New Arrivals Mongkok Service Centre is going to submit an application for Education Bureau’s Afterschool Learning & Support Programme this week, which aims at benefiting about 1,500 students (including 16 secondary schools and 3 primary schools).  Pray that our service will share the burden of child rearing for parents from low-income families who often have to work long hours to survive.   20

About 20 youngsters under the care of our Youth Development Service are undergoing an on-the-job training.  Pray that the project will facilitate them to walk a godly path to fulfil their dreams.

Please pray that Christian Action UK will connect with more committed and like-minded supporters to embrace our ministry in Qinghai. May those God-chosen ones proactively respond to His call to serve the disabled and abandoned children on the Tibetan Plateau!  Amen!     22

Collaborating with an NGO, we have been running a free daily meal programme at NHB since mid-February 2017, benefiting about 100 needy and seniors in the vicinity.   Pray that we continue to garner financial aid to sustain the service delivering warmth and love to the vulnerable in the community.

Tomorrow the Sau Mau Ping Integrated Employment Assistance Service Centre will conduct a self-exploration course for its clients on welfare benefits. Pray that they will be guided to choose a career they love and find motivation to live a purpose-driven life.   24

Today Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director, in her capacity as a Justice of Peace, will visit three correctional institutions.  Pray that God would be with her, guiding her words and steps.   26

In this month, our Training Services Division has been conducting several workshops on coffee brewing for the ladies attending our Women’s Empowerment Programmes sponsored by the Women’s Commission.  Pray that they will be equipped and inspired to live a fulfilling life through our ministry.

Facing the urgent needs of the community, our Integrated Employment Assistance Service Sheung Shui Centre needs committed and qualified staff to aid the disadvantaged families in one of the poorest parts of this city.  Please pray for this.   28

As announced recently in the 2018/19 financial budget, our government will set up a steering committee to coordinate, review, and monitor the support work and services for ethnic minorities in Hong Kong.  A total of $500 million will be reserved to strengthen support for them.  Pray that we would strive to play a proactive part to encourage community unity and celebrate racial diversity.

To better prepare for our headquarters relocation, our Information Technology Department is making plan for it.  Pray for His wisdom, direction and protection to deal with every little matter seen or unseen as we strive to serve the unserved in our community.     30

Health problems are one of the major reasons for clients staying in the shelters under our Migrant Domestic Workers programme.  Two recent community activities promoting dental health and primary health care for non-Chinese women helped them a lot.  Pray that more health-related programmes would be conducted to benefit these precious people.
