Most schools in Hong Kong and Qinghai will start on Monday.   May God bless the students joining our afterschool care, and that the learning programme and youth programme run successfully after a long vacation.  In addition, that the students will embrace their new school lives with vigor and joy.      2

A new advocacy and fundraising drive “Red Packet for Every Home” launched in 15 educational institutes ranging from kindergartens to universities has started since late August.  Pray that we help deliver care and love to the disadvantaged families in HK and even beyond to Qinghai.

Answered Prayer
Give thanks for God’s provision in our refugee children’s education funding programme. 95 children ranging from primary to secondary schools will benefit from this programme and receive their formal education. Amen!

Praise God!  The mutual agreement in co-managing children’s homes with the Qinghai government was renewed in August.  Pray that the collaboration will strive to nurture the deprived and handicapped children on the Tibetan Plateau.

Today and next Wednesday, our Sau Mau Ping Integrated Employment Assistance Service Centre will run two flower arrangement classes for 10 women from underprivileged families and new arrivals families of On Tai Estate.  Pray that we help enhance the community cohesion through various activities we organize.   6

Our Sheung Shui Centre will form a cooking group for 9 clients that meet regularly on Thursday from today to 27th September.  Pray that this will develop into a friendly support system from which the members will learn how to cast all their anxiety on our Lord because He cares.

The preparation of our Seasons of Love Charity Drive 2018 /19 is now in full swing.  Pray for smooth communication and coordination among different partners including the designer, the manufacturers, procurement teams and others. May this exercise prove fruitful as all proceeds will be ploughed back to sustain our ministries in Qinghai and Hong Kong.   8

Our Child Development Fund mentorship programmes in both Kwun Tong and Yuen Long under our Ministry Coordination Team started this month.  Pray that more Christians will join us as mentors spreading His word in action.

Our free daily meal programme for the deprived elderly neighbours will be financed partly by the government and partly by a generous donor for another two years.  Pray that the beneficiaries will feel loved and cared for when they understand “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God”.  Matthew 4:4

Pray for God’s wisdom and direction when we choose the right tender this week for our new Christian Action Centre (CAC) renovation.  May God bless us with seamless communication with the government, donors and all concerned parties so the whole project will proceed safely and on schedule.

Please pray that more people will be moved by a beneficiary family, Ms. Chow, of the Mong Kok New Arrivals Service Centre, a single mom who has been engaging in 3 menial jobs to sustain a family of three. The family has now been nominated for the Best Family 2018 award and will be attending the award presentation ceremony today.    12

This Saturday, our Ethnic Minorities Integrated Services Woosung Street Centre will conduct a cultural exchange activity including a tour of the Yau Tsim Mong region in which some AIESEC youth will participate.  Pray that our effort will facilitate community inclusion transcending cultures, races and generations.

Our Sheung Shui Centre has started launching make-up classes every Friday in September for 10 clients on welfare.  Pray that the beneficiaries will be lifted up to regain self-respect and resilience when they learn how endearing they are in God’s eye.    14

Today about 250 seniors of our district including our free meal box recipients are invited to attend the Basin Feast (Poon Choi) which is sponsored by a private club house. Pray that they will experience a deepening sense of community and God’s love as they participate.

Today is the closing ceremony of our 2nd-batch school-based mentorship programme in Yuen Long under the Child Development Fund.  Pray that each mentor-and-mentee pair will develop a long-lasting friendship that will motivate the youth to live out a God purposeful life.   16

Our Training Services Division will co-host a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration in Kai Yip Estate with a local community organization today.  Pray that we help foster a sense of belonging in the residents through the collaboration.

Mid-Autumn festival is just around the corner.
A dedicated donor has given 200 sets of mooncakes to our beneficiaries in the Mong Kok New Arrival Services Centre.  Pray that more corporate partners will join us to deliver care and love to the disadvantaged. Amen!

Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director, will attend the Community Building and Social Service Committee meeting introducing our ministry to a group of Wong Tai Sin district councilors today.  Pray that the interaction helps explore more service gaps in the community and garners support for CAC.

During this weekend, our Social Enterprise Division will co-organize a green collection campaign with the West Kowloon Green Association.  Pray that we will gather much needed used items, in a good condition, to resell through our outlet stores to support our charity services; and bring in more collaborators to educate the public about the importance of recycling in environmental protection.   20

In this month, our Training Services Division has organized several activities promoting our Employees Retraining Board’s training programmes across the city.  Pray that the attendants will understand how important it is to improve themselves in pursuit of their dreams for a better life.

This September, the China team will run a project known as International Child Development Programme to train the health care givers in the children’s homes of Qinghai imparting new concepts such as play and music to the routine of daily childcare. Pray that this enlightens the staff in tending for the disabled and disadvantaged children in Qinghai, one of the poorest provinces.   22

Please pray for two clients living in our shelter of the Migrant Domestic Workers Programme who are victims of human trafficking, that they will personally experience His comfort and provision during their difficult times. Pray that more people will recognize us serving the neglected since we follow Jesus Christ as our example.

May God bless Christian Action Asia (USA) to get a good response to the charity luncheon party named as “New Season: New Home” on 13th October.  We pray that more people will be inspired to join hands with us to deliver hope and concern to the unfortunate and handicapped kids in Qinghai.   24

Congratulations!
Our Training Services Division has successfully secured funding from the Women’s Commission again for an initiative titled “Turning a New Perspective for Women in Kowloon East” 《東九C9.妍展「知」「態」》that lasts from August 2018 to March 2020; and aims at helping about 650 women from grassroot families in the vicinity.  Pray that they will understand the essence of self-enrichment so as to pursue their dreams.

From now to February 2019, our Tuen Mun SHINE Centre’s Hum Sub Milkar Gaye choir will participate in “Different Colours Shine Out-Volunteers Project 2018”「齊放義彩」義工服務計劃 -「深化計劃2018」 organized by the Social Welfare Department. They will sing both Cantonese and Hindi songs in different parts of Tuen Mun.  Pray that we strive to foster love and unity in our community.  Amen!

Congratulations!
We have secured public funding for our afterschool support and learning programmes for the academic year 2018/19.  It aims at benefiting 1,000 students (whose families are on welfare benefit/full school fee remission) from 15 schools spread over 7 districts. Pray that we strive to walk with them to live out their blissful lives that our Lord has destined for them.

May God bless the board members and trustees of Christian Action UK with His strength and discernment, as they will hold an AGM next month.  They have been selflessly contributing their time and effort in supporting Christian Action’s ministry on the Tibetan Plateau. Amen!

Christian Action is planning to host a farewell party at New Horizons Building in early 2019 to share all fond and unforgettable moments with the neighbours. May God bless us to shine in our new CAC premises and strive to serve the poor and needy year after year.   30

The Youth Development Service Team will continue to help the unemployed youngsters recruited in August (even though our Youth Employment and Training Programme has officially ended).  Pray that we keep on empowering them to realize their dreams and build up confidence in our Lord as they move forward.
