Today 40 primary school pupils and their parents from our new arrivals Mongkok service centre will participate in an experiential activity including lunch at the Polytechnic University.  Pray that the disadvantaged families will feel cherished and cared by the community.

Praise God! CA successfully held a charity luncheon in October and was able to get a significant donation. Thank God for their whole-hearted support and pray that we will continue to receive their funds.   4

In late September, Indonesia was seriously hit by a 7.5 magnitude of earthquake causing almost 2,000 deaths; thousands were injured and displaced. May God comfort those who have lost so much during this devastating time. Amen!

Our shelter’s client, under the Migrant Domestic Workers Programme, assault lawsuit against her former employer will reach a verdict today.  May God empower her with His justice, love and peace at this difficult time.  Amen!   6

Give thanks! Sponsored by Causeway Bay Rotary Club, 30 children from our new arrivals Mongkok Service Centre enjoyed the wonderful VR experiential game last week.  Pray that they feel cherished and would repay the community when they grow up.

CA is launching our major annual Season of Love charity drive this month.  Pray for enthusiastic responses from our sponsors, sales booths and outlets, as well as online sales so that we can reap a rich harvest to finance our services for the vulnerable children in Qinghai and Hong Kong.   8

The Training Services Division has conducted several workshops under “Turning a New Perspective for Women in Kowloon East” 《東九C9.妍展「知」「態」》this month ranging from accessory handicrafts, pot plants packaging and small business start-ups.  Pray that the women from grassroot families in the vicinity will be benefited to realize their dreams.

Today some clients of our Tuen Mun SHINE Centre will perform in a carnival at Tuen Mun Tin Hau Temple Plaza;  and they will host a booth to teach the public to sing Nepali and Cantonese songs. Pray that we help establish an inclusive and joyful community.    12

Winter is coming!
Our Centre for Refugees has initiated a winter clothes drive since September with different drop-off locations. Please pray that the initiative will raise public awareness to donate warm clothes and other useful items to refugees and asylum seekers waiting in Hong Kong.

The compassionate donor having supported 4 medical cases from Qinghai’s community will visit the beneficiary teenagers in Xining this week.  Pray that more people will personally learn the plight of the poor children on the Tibetan Plateau; and be moved to uphold the same mission and vision as ours. Since mid-November, our Sheung Shui Centre has organized classes for about 10 welfare clients on Home Maintenance and Repairs every Tuesday morning. Pray that they will feel empowered through the training programme; easing their re-entry into the job market.

Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director, will meet Wong Tai Sin District Officer today to hear the needs of the district we serve; and to garner more support from the government to launch more needs-oriented services for our beloved neighbours.   22

Our Ministry Coordination Team will introduce our services for the deprived families at the forum on poverty alleviation hosted by the Hong Kong Church Network for the Poor (HKCNP) today.  Pray that this will bring Christians together to help the poor and present a testimony of Christ’s love to the public.

Christian Action Asia (USA) will embark on a Fall Mailing Campaign in the States this November.  Pray that it will connect more like-minded supporters and our most needed professional therapists to improve the services at our new Xining Children’s Home.   24

Today several university undergrads will volunteer to go with around 15 ethnic minority children to visit Tai Kwun in Central; and then embark on an orienteering challenge at the Zoological and Botanical Gardens in the afternoon.  Pray that the beneficiaries feel cherished and loved by the community.

Our Social Enterprise Division hosted a carnival at Ngau Tau Kok Estate sponsored by the Kwun Tong District Council yesterday.  Pray that we would seize this opportunity to educate our neighbours about the importance of “3-R” that includes reducing, reusing, and recycling with fun and creativity.   26

Glory to Our Lord!
2 medical professionals including a physiotherapist and a speech therapist from the HK Cornerstone Association will visit the Qinghai Welfare Charity Hospital for follow-up of cases this week. Pray that more dedicated and able partners will join us to love the deprived children in Qinghai.

Please pray that the employability programme of our Centre for Refugees will continue to better prepare the recognized refugees in HK to re-enter the workplace with the consent to work by the Director of the Immigration Department and that more employers are willing to hire them.

Our Sheung Shui Centre has formed a youth support group for about 15 welfare clients aged from 15 to 29 since mid-November.  Workshops and camping activities are organized to enhance their resilience, career planning and self-confidence. Pray that they are uplifted with Godly strength and insight.
