Representatives from the Nepalese Consulate will visit our training centre tomorrow. Please pray for closer collaborative relationships with them as we try to clearly understand the training needs of unemployed ethnic minorities in Hong Kong.

Praise God! The public responded very positively to our Refugee Reunion Dinner last month, and gained a deeper understanding of people seeking protection from persecution in their home countries. Pray that through our service, protection claimants will understand that we are followers of Jesus Christ showing hospitality to sojourners.

Give thanks! Several of the Training Services Division course instructors and trade partners have received service excellence awards from the Employees Retraining Board (ERB). Pray that we continue to provide training which places people in better jobs.

The majority of the children in our new arrival services programmes will take mid-term examinations in early January. Pray they are able to achieve the results they deserve.    6

Ming and Qun, babies from Qinghai are in Hong Kong for surgery and post-operative care. May God guide their surgeon’s hands; and give them a quick and steady recovery in the care of their medical foster families.

Chronically ill domestic helpers and migrant workers, unfairly dismissed due to their illness have lost access to public medical services. Please pray for us as we appeal to government bodies on their behalf, ensuring they have access to the medical care they desperately need.    8

Give thanks! Last month we successfully ran a charity sales day at our Mongkok training centre. The sales revenues partially finance our humanitarian services in Hong Kong and China. The public also gain a deeper understanding of CA, beyond our training services.

Christian Action Asia (CAA) is promoting our China ministry in Denver and Colorado of the USA this month. Please pray that people will be moved to extend the love of Christ across the ocean to Qinghai.   10

May God bless the refugees and asylum seekers in Hong Kong. Pray that HK government will listen to their cries of distress and respond positively as they formulate relevant policies offering refugee claimants adequate assistance.

We are planning dynamic new programmes for unemployed school leavers, providing guidance, restoring their self confidence, and helping them to fill their dreams. Pray that our funding application to support this programme is successful.   12

The Court of Final Appeal recently ruled out the regulation denying welfare to residents who have lived in Hong Kong for less than 7 years. Pray that this ruling will relieve the financial difficulties some new arrival families face. Pray that with this support, they will quickly integrate with the local community.

Our tutorial class for ethnic minority children will start soon. Please pray for the children as they learn, especially in Chinese as a second language, which poses many challenges.   14

The government will soon launch a new programme to facilitate Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients with finding full-time employment, which includes confidence building and counseling. Pray that this will help to break the cycle of poverty in their lives.

Our Student Affairs & Youth Training Programme (YETP) will host a gathering for ERB students at our Cyber Centre this week, helping to build a sense of community during the upcoming Chinese New Year.    16

Clients from our Sau Mau Ping IEAPS Centre will be knitting scarves for the elderly as part of a campaign called ”Love Love 2014”. Please pray that this will increase their understanding that in helping others, you help yourself.

Mrs. Cheung Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director, will attend a Qinghai Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference this week. Pray for God’s guidance and protection as she builds the relationship between CA and the Qinghai government.   18

Please pray for children of new arrivals from mainland China who may be left alone in Hong Kong while their parents return to their hometowns and re-apply for entry into Hong Kong. Please pray that our New Arrivals Services Centre is able to find ways to assist them.

Pray that the CAA website will attract support from Americans, bridging up the information gap for interested parties so they understand how CA helps vulnerable children on the Tibetan Plateau.   20

Please pray that local employers will accept a higher number of ethnic minority youths into their internship programmes, creating valuable opportunities to adapt to the local working environment and integrate better with the local community.

Praise God! The Social Enterprise Division will receive a merit award for industry performance. Thank God as this affirms Christian Action’s effort and contribution to social enterprise over the years.   22

Our ministry coordination team has joined a new poverty alleviation network in Kowloon East headed by Hong Kong Church Network for the Poor to reach the needy regardless of age, ethnicity and religion. Please pray that God’s love will be shed abroad in the city.

Please pray for our marketing team who have to work outdoors in the cold weather, recruiting supporters for our Friends of Qinghai Children programme.   26

A partnership between the government, business corporations and our Training Services Division will initiate the “Future Stars’ Programme : Upward Mobility Booster”, aimed at alleviating inter-generational poverty by equipping grass-roots youths to choose sensible career paths.   Pray that this programme will stimulate their talents, dreams and inner potential; and that they will choose to follow the Lord.   28

We are planning a new training centre in Shun Tin! Please pray that we will be able to bring more training into the neighborhood equipping the local people for better jobs.
