Discovery College will host a charity relay event to raise funds for our Chungking Mansions Service Centre for Refugees and Asylum Seekers today. Pray that the participants will understand our work and engage with us on an ongoing basis, through donations and volunteering etc.

Abuse of foreign domestic helpers will be highlighted on local TV (Pearl Report & Tuesday Report) over the next two days. Pray that Christian Action will be equipped to speak up for justice, raise public concern and effectively address these issues.   4

The Christian Action Asia (USA) Board meeting will take place today.  Please pray for our leaders as they strategise ways to raise funds that will open up more new and exciting opportunities, that will enable us to provide better care for underprivileged children and youth in Qinghai.

The government commenced with the operation of a new unified screening mechanism for refugee and torture claimants a few days ago. Pray that this new policy will shorten the waiting time for the people seeking protection in Hong Kong.

Give thanks to God for “Home sweet Home”, an organization with a big heart to support our New Arrivals Services Mongkok Centre. They will be partnering with us; conducting home visits, distributing small home appliances and doing minor home renovations. Pray for our service recipients as they receive God’s love through ‘Home Sweet Home”.    10

Please pray for our Youth Employment and Training Programme (YETP) that we will implement effective projects that improve unemployed youth’s sense of self-worth, show them God’s love and teach them Godly values.

Please pray for our Sau Mau Ping Integrated Employment Assistance (IEAS) Service Centre ‘My-Step’ programme targeting unemployed youngsters. It seeks to empower them, teaches responsibility and encourages them to pursue their dreams.   12

The IEAS San Fung Avenue Centre and New Arrivals Families Sheung Shui Centre will send volunteers to visit the single elderly in the district. Pray that they will be empowered through helping others and establishing mutually supportive relationships within their community.

Praise God! Our Training Services Division hosted a successful one-stop vocational training service carnival in Kowloon East last month. Pray that these events will continue to bring hope through providing appropriate vocational training and job market updates to job seekers; and thus enabling them to build a better career.

Give Thanks!  Representatives of the United States’ Consulate visited us last month to find ways of partnering with us and support our clients, especially those not receiving government subvention, such as domestic helpers & migrant workers, and refugees & asylum seekers.

Hong Kong Church Network for the Poor and various churches in Shatin will host a forum on poverty alleviation in the region. Pray that this will bring Christians together to help the poor and present a testimony of Christ’s love to the public.

CA will facilitate a series of career oriented workshops for secondary school students in partnership with the government, HK Council of Social Service and a private property development corporation. Pray that it will benefit the next generation as they plan their careers.    24

Our Ministry Coordination Team has just entered the 4th phase of the faith-based mentorship programme under the Child Development Fund in Kwun Tong and Tin Shui Wai.  Pray for the (Christian) mentors who will present a Godly role-model to their mentees, drawing them in to explore their own personal relationships with Jesus.

Hong Kong’s Court of Final Appeal ruled against giving refugees and a torture claimant the right to work in Hong Kong, plunging service recipients from our Chungking Mansions Service Centre into despair as they battle to survive on government grants. Pray for God’s strength and comfort as they face these challenges.     30
