Everyday we face different challenges and many may give in to these difficulties. Christian Action began helping the youth and the marginalized community in 2001. We believe that everyone can play an important role in society, as long as we accept one another and assist where we can. Below are our various services.
A. Integrated Employment Assistance Scheme
1. Objectives:
The Social Welfare Department (SWD) has commissioned non-governmental organizations (Operating Agencies) to operate the Integrated Employment Assistance Scheme (IEAS) from October 2008 to September 2011. The aim of IEAS is to provide tailor-made employment assistance services to unemployed able-bodied Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) applicants/recipients to help them overcome work barriers, enhance employability and seek paid employment to become self-reliant.
2. Targets:
Unemployed able-bodied CSSA applicants/recipients aged 15 - 59 and referred by SWD
3. Serving boundary :
Kwun Tong District and Sheung Shui District
4. Content:
Periodic case counseling, workshops, skills training groups, visits, family activities and volunteer services
B. The Third Phase of New Dawn Project
1. Objectives:
The Social Welfare Department (SWD) has commissioned non-governmental organizations as operating agencies to help implement the Project to provide tailor-made employment assistance services to help single parents and child carers on Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) whose youngest child is aged 12 - 14 build up capacities for self-help, integrate into the community and move towards self-reliance through engagement in paid employment.
2. Target:
Single parents and child carers on CSSA with youngest child aged 12 - 14 referred by the SWD
3. Serving boundary:
North District, Tai Po District and Shatin District
4. Content:
Periodic case counseling, workshops, skills training groups, visits, family activities and volunteer services
C. OEA-The Breaking Through
1. Objectives:
- To assist participants to solve personal constraints, develop life goals and build supportive network
- To develop participants’ potential so as to enable to change life pattern
- To enhance public understanding of the problem and identify potential participants through community education programs *
2. Targets:
- Youths aged 12 - 25 with a history or tendency of social withdrawal and lack normal social engagement
- Parents of youth participants*
3. Serving boundary:
North District, Yuen Long District and Tai Po District
4. Content:
Talks, website, case counseling, supportive groups, experiential activities, referrals
* All participants are subjected to assessment of social worker to decide eligibility for joining the project.
