This month, the New Arrivals Service Centre at Sheung Shui will offer induction classes for families living in Shenzhen, whose children attend schools in Hong Kong. Pray that they are able to build stronger family relationships through this programme.

Today we submit the application for the fifth Child Development Fund programme, and mentoring scheme. Please pray for favour and a successful outcome, as so many young lives are changed for the better through this initiative. 6

Qun, a little girl from Xining Children’s Home will arrive in Hong Kong today for a series of medical tests. She has a rare congenital disability which affects her mobility. Please pray for her!

Please pray for service recipients in the Integrated Employment Assistance Programme for Self-reliance (IEAPS) at our Sheung Shui Service Centre. Pray that they will find work, and know the peace of God that surpasses understanding. 8

Christian Action was one of the beneficiaries of the Metro Broadcast charity run last month. Pray that, having learnt of their needs through the run, more members of the public will ‘run’ to serve new arrivals families in Hong Kong.

As the Town Planning Board did not agree to rezone the site where Christian Action (CA) headquarters’ stands, we will continue to advocate for the right to do God’s work among the poor and oppressed in Hong Kong. Please pray for the wisdom to discern His direction, provision and solution to come to light! 10

The Training Services Division will host a day camp for 240 vulnerable clients today. Please pray for the success of this event as they aim to foster stronger family relationships and social integration among the participants.

Representatives of the Canadian Consulate visited us last month. Please pray for us to establish closer collaborative relationships with them as we explore ways of partnering to provide services to the deprived in Hong Kong.

Following a successful vision sharing dinner hosted by Christian Action Asia (USA) in November, pray that strong bonds will be formed with donors, to move forward as one body, focused on Jesus Christ. Pray that we will meet our fundraising goals for our ministry in Qinghai. Amen.

CA needs a Thai youth ambassador to join our youth ambassador project which promotes racial harmony in the community. Please pray the Lord will send the right person along to help us reach the Thai people and draw them into the Hong Kong community. 14

The Social Welfare Department has rolled out a new initiative for protection claimants stranded in HK. Pray that their difficulties will be eased as they struggle for basic necessities, and essential services.

Many foreign domestic helpers come from warm countries and struggle to adapt to Hong Kong winters. Pray that they begin to understand the love of God as we care for their physical needs, giving them warm clothing and bedding. 16

Today CA staff will learn more about equal opportunities and discrimination laws in Hong Kong, that their understanding will deepen as they serve marginalized people in Hong Kong. Pray that all people will love one another because of His Word, not just because of the law.

As the demands on our Domestic Helpers and Migrant Workers Programme increase, we need to find larger premises for our paralegal service centre. Pray for increased financial, and volunteer support, and people to intercede on behalf of domestic helpers. 18

Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, our Executive Director, will be speaking at a local church on the value and importance of finding families for orphans. Pray that her sharing will inspire more Christians to follow Jesus’ example to care for orphans and widows.

Many children participating in our new arrival programme will be taking their mid-term examinations soon. Pray that they will be able to focus on their studies, in the midst of very difficult life circumstances. 20

Please pray for Mrs. Cheung, our Executive Director as she will attend a Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Qinghai Provincial meeting this week. Pray that she will continue to receive support from the government so CA can sustainably serve orphans in Qinghai.

Our Social Enterprise Division is partnering with different estate management companies to launch our “Green Collection Charity Drive” all over Hong Kong. Pray that the public will donate good quality used items for resale, to support our ministry.

Please pray that renovations at our Sheung Shui Training Centre will proceed as planned despite many holidays and festivals over the next few weeks. We will offer much needed training services to the residents of Sheung Shui.

Volunteers from our Integrated Employment Assistance Programme for Self-reliance (IEAPS) Sau Mau Ping Centre have hand knitted warm woolies for the elderly. Pray that the volunteers will know the joy and blessings of giving, and the elderly will know they are cherished. 24

Praise God! The third group of Child Development Fund participants came to the end of their programme last month. Pray that our Christian mentors will continue to influence their mentees, and the message of the gospel will be received and embraced! Amen!

Our Youth Employment and Training Programme team has adopted a more innovative teaching approach to encourage students’ interest in the self-enhancement programme. Pray that these youths will discover a closer walk with God through the new initiatives we have implemented. 28

The Social Enterprise Division will launch a “Chinese New Year Donation Drive” over the next two months, collecting donations from 144 sites. Pray that this initiative will arouse more public awareness and support for CA’s green collection programme.

Let’s pray for Christian Action UK to strengthen connections with different churches and Christians across the UK in 2015, so CA can continue to minister to the needs of disabled and abandoned children on the Tibetan Plateau. 30

Pray for our marketing team as they have to work outdoors in the cold, recruiting supporters for the Friends of Qinghai Children Programme. Pray that we will reap an abundant harvest, in accordance with God’s plan and will.

Children from our New Arrival Mongkok Service Centre will attend an education workshop at a local theme park today. Pray that they will learn about the marvels of God’s creation during this rare opportunity to venture out of the city.
