
The first pioneer to bring belly dance to Hong Kong, Mey
Jen Tillyer has nurtured this art form for over two decades by teaching,
performing and organizing seminars with artists from Egypt, Canada, USA
and Europe.
Originally from Toronto, in 2003, she founded Oasis
Dance Centre, Hong Kong’s first studio committed to the art
of belly dance. With a collective of 11 talented instructors, Oasis also
acts as a hub for attracting enthusiastic dancers of all backgrounds.
In 2007, she conducted master dance workshops for the Mediterranean
Arts Festival and had the honor of bringing Oasis Dance Centre and
bellydance to the performing arts platform.
Earlier, she was invited as overseas guest performer for the first International
Bellydance Conference of Canada.
She was the consultant and choreographer for HK movie project My Mother
is a Belly Dancer which premiered Nov 2006.
Over the past years , she has travelled to Taiwan, Singapore and Korea
to judge for various Asian bellydance competions.
