
Sanggar Budaya is a cultural group created by the Indonesian Consulate
General in April 1996. Members and dancers of Sanggar Budaya are Indonesian
Domestic Workers who have talent and are interested in the culture. The
dancers have performed in many different events convened by the Hong Kong
Government, District Council, NGO and other Consulate Generals in Hong
Kong.
For Orientalia Hong Kong, Sanggar Budaya will perfom a Story of Ramayana
Dance, a dance inspired by the Ramayana Story, an Indian Epic which describes
how Rama, with the help of Hanuman (a monkey king) rescues his wife, Shinta,
who is kidnapped by the Giant Rahwana, the King of Alengka.
