The 3-Legged Charity Walk was virtual this year and was successfully completed in late March. Praise God for drawing a large crowd of participants (both corporate and individuals) to support us despite the pandemic. Pray that they would be further motivated to support our ministries for the under-privileged families in Hong Kong and the disabled children in Qinghai.

Today is Good Friday and tomorrow will be the last day of Lent this year.
May we meditate on the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus Christ.  Hope that people will be inspired by His word, His sacrificial example and His heart to serve the needy and disadvantaged, especially at this challenging time.

Tomorrow is Ching Ming Festival (Tomb-sweeping Day).
According to Chinese tradition, people will sweep the tombs and pay tribute to their ancestors. Pray that they realize that the one true God is not far from any one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being.’ ‘We are his offspring.’  Acts 17:27-28

May all Christians meditate on the message of “whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.”  Matthew 18:5  Pray that more people will join us to embrace the needy children from the most marginalized sector of our community and those in Qinghai.  Amen!

Notwithstanding the negative feelings due to the epidemic, some mentees’ families under our Child Development Fund (CDF) have learnt to grow in faith in God through the challenging circumstances. The mentees have also begun to realize their dreams by utilizing their target savings for a personal development plan. Pray that they continue to choose to walk on a God-pleasing path beyond the programme.

In this week, our Information and Technology Department will begin its final stage of computer installation and network construction for our Centre for Refugees. Pray that the renovation will be successfully completed on time.

A new staff member will join our Corporate Development Department today. Pray for her quick adaptation and integration into her team. Pray that together the team will garner enough support to sustain our ministries for the poor and needy in Hong Kong and Qinghai.

Today is Christian Action’s (CA) Board meeting.  Pray for His continuous provision and guidance to uplift CA through our committed board members who uphold our vision and mission to help the disadvantaged and deprived even though we face unprecedented challenges under the pandemic.

Recently 8 mentors from different churches from our Child Development Fund (CDF) Long Ping Service Centre have established an ad hoc DSE support group that meets once every month till this June with a view to creating synergy in studying for students who will sit for the HK Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (DSE) this year or next year. Pray that the young generation would personally understand how precious they are in the eyes of our Lord through this impactful mentorship programme.

Our Training Services Division will kick off its 1st round of 3-session training project named "Power Up – in the Workplace (數碼生活- 職場篇)" at our Digital Learning Centre in April. Two other projects will follow later. Pray that we thrive on enhancing our beloved neighbours through our training and retraining services. Amen!

Starting from this April, On Tai Service Centre has offered tutoring services for 6 primary school students from the deprived families at On Tai Estate under the Social Welfare Department’s “After School Care Programme (ASCP)”. Pray that we strive to help their families to share the burden of looking after the children.

Our Food station 2 will soon be in operation later this month to feed another 200 grassroots families with nutritious daily meal packs. Please continue to support our “Emergency Food!” programme that aims to feed 1,500 persons in need.

As our fundraising income is potentially affected by the coronavirus outbreak, we desperately need to diversify our sources of donations. Praise God that some donation boxes will be permanently placed in different shops under a local dessert chain. Pray for His continuous protection and provision for our ministries through generous donors and enthusiastic supporters.

In this month, our Training Services Division will organize two activities to promote our Employees Retraining Board’s training programmes about healthcare/massage, and housekeeping.  Pray that we offer job seekers more updated job information and know-how to help them with their future career plans.

Our New Arrival Mong Kok Service Centre will submit a proposal for the community-based afterschool learning and support service this month. Pray that we strive to lessen the grassroots families’ burden of taking care of their children as they have to work long hours to earn enough for subsistence.

Our China Programme team is recruiting a local rehabilitation staff member and an office assistant at the Qinghai office to improve our services in the children’s homes on the Tibetan Plateau. Pray that dedicated and competent candidates will join us to serve in this ministry.

Today and next Saturday, our Ethnic Minorities (EM) Woosung Service Centre will launch 2 separate virtual workshops themed how to foster family ties, friendship and communication skills for 8 of our EM clients. Pray that we help enhance their interpersonal relationships to live out their lives with vigour and colour.

Today our Migrant Domestic Workers Programme team will organize a baking class for clients at our headquarters. Pray that these marginalized workers would enjoy themselves, feel cared for and cherished by the community through our service.

Starting from now to June, our Sheung Shui Service Centre will launch a series of activities and webinars for parents in this digital era under the Community Chest’s project of "Creating a Better Internet Day 2021". Pray that the parents would be enriched in computer knowledge, and keep abreast of the times, especially during the Covid-19 outbreak.

Always say thanks to Our Lord for turning a calamity into a blessing!
Reconstruction for our Centre for Refugees, after a disastrous fire that broke out in late August last year, has been progressing as smoothly as planned. Pray that it continues to serve ‘a home away from home’ for our refugees and asylum seekers.

This April, our Tuen Mun SHINE Centre will launch 3 online workshops themed digital strategy and social inclusion for some primary and secondary school students in the vicinity. Pray that we strive to foster community cohesion through our ministry.

Our Sheung Shui Service Centre will conduct a staff workshop on proper social etiquette this afternoon. Pray that we strive to enrich ourselves and in turn synergize the welfare recipients with empathy and love. Hopefully they would reciprocate by repaying the community in the future.

This morning sees the Annual General Meeting for the Hong Kong Church Network for the Poor (HKCNP).  Mrs. Cheung, JP, our Executive Director, will join in her capacity as an Executive Committee member of the HKCNP.  Pray that the network would shine in the city and glorify Jesus Christ, Our Lord.

Yesterday saw the beginning of the 2021 HK DSE. Please pray for the students sitting the examinations, especially those under the care of our youth programmes, that they would also discover their dreams and passions in life as they map out their future career path under the services we offer. Pray that they will learn that God has a plan to prosper them.

Due to the pandemic, our CDF On Tai Service Centre faces great difficulty in securing enough funds, and organizing enough quality training programmes/activities for the mentees, their families and mentors. Pray for our full faith in His protection and providence in this mentorship programme.

As the epidemic situation improves, we have raised the frequency of our daily free meal collection for 120 disadvantaged residents at our headquarters to four times a week. Pray that we continue to serve with faith the needy in our beloved neighbourhood. Amen!

Christian Action Asia (USA) continues to launch its Spring Mailing Campaign this month.  Pray that we reap an abundant harvest across the States to aid the deprived children in Qinghai.
