During the current economic recession, many Hong Kong people face massive layoffs and wage cuts, and have great financial hardship. Our Employment Support Services Team On Tai Service Centre has received more than seventy case referrals since March. Pray that we strive to empower these distressed and stressed welfare recipients with skills and confidence to re-enter the job market soon.

As the pandemic situation stabilizes, our Centre for Refugees has resumed its regular programmes, activities, and courses. Pray that we continue to empower and speak for the voiceless whose sojourn in Hong Kong.

This month, nine of our student mentees from the Child Development Fund (CDF) Mentorship Programme of the Long Ping Service Centre will embark on their “Youth Work Experience Programme” that includes a series of career-oriented experiences like job interviewing skills, internship in their preferred fields, etc. Pray that they will personally experience how God is a lamp for their feet, and a light on their path. The China Programme team is recruiting a local bookkeeper at our Xining office. Pray that the right candidate, who is dedicated and competent, will come to serve in this ministry. For 2 years the challenges of travel to China has encouraged us to localize our staff programme.

Our Training Services Division will host a job fair offering over 1,400 employment opportunities in different sectors like hotel and catering, property management, health, and beauty, social welfare, etc.: various training and retraining courses under the Employees Retraining Board (ERB) and relevant career talks at Yue Man Square for people in Kwun Tong. Pray that we continue to provide more updated information on employment and self-enrichment programmes for jobseekers.

As many people are struggling to meet their basic needs due to the pandemic, CA continues to carry out the “Feed the Hungry – Share Your Blessing 2022” programme to pool in support from our friends and relatives to donate their Consumption Vouchers to buy food for the needy. Please pray that people would be more than willing to donate what they can to sustain our food programme.

Our Social Enterprise Department will run another round of the green collection drive with our corporate partners this month. Pray that we strive to instill the message of 3Rs in environmental preservation emphasizing “Reuse, Recycle and Reduce”.

We are recruiting mentors for our ninth-phase Child Development Fund (CDF). Pray that more Christians will be moved by His call to join this mentorship programme so that our next generation will be blessed to seek God through their guidance and care.

Our Sheung Shui Service Centre will collaborate with a secondary school in Tai Po to launch two sessions of STEM-themed (integrating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) online classes for about thirty primary school pupils. Pray that they learn how to unleash their potential through our diverse activities.

Supported by the International Organization for Migration, our MDW service team will conduct the last virtual class on HK employment ordinance stressing the rights of migrant workers this Sunday. Pray that we strive to partner with different stakeholders to extend a helping hand to those who work far away from their hometowns to earn a living.

Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei JP, our Executive Director, also serves as a member on the Executive Committee of HK Christian Council (HKCC). To signify the World Refugee Day this year, a Sunday service themed “Where is my home?” has been disseminated to all churches over the city by HKCC. Hopefully, more Christians will be moved by His word and reminded of refugees’ identities as His beloved children. Amen!

Christian Action has been granted by the Social Welfare Department to hold a flag day in Kowloon on 27 July 2022. May God bless us with a smooth volunteer recruitment and fund raising so that we attempt to render charity services for the underprivileged communities with love and hope. Amen!

Our new Jordan training centre is under renovation now. Pray that all fixing and furnishing, computer installation and network construction is successfully accomplished on schedule so that our training programme will be rolled out accordingly.

Supported by a well-established corporation, two small classes will be organized for sixteen ethnic minority (EM) primary school pupils to read and learn Chinese with fun. Pray that we always strive to help the EM families to achieve community inclusion with ease.

This month, our Social Enterprise Department has launched several Green Collection Charity Drives in different private estates in Kowloon East. Pray that our goodwill would spread further over the city; and the public would be inspired to conserve the world, so it is greener.

Our Training Services Division has secured a successful bid for the ERB Post 50-Internship programme for three consecutive years. Pray that our consistent effort in better equipping job seekers of all ages, race, religious or educational background, would be recognized as we believe in giving them a means to fish rather than giving them fish.

Further supported by our partner church in Wong Tai Sin district, we try to offer more varieties of food to one hundred elderly recipients of the food programme. Pray that we secure more resources to fill up the service gap in our community! Amen!
