As our government rolled out a new round of the Consumption Voucher Scheme last month, Christian Action (CA) has launched “Feed the Hungry – Share Your Blessings 2023” to inspire the public to use the government’s consumption vouchers to feed grassroots families. Pray that more people will be motivated to uphold the scripture message “more blessed to give than to receive”. Acts 20:35

Give thanks! 60 client children from our Mong Kok Service Centre were sponsored by a donor to enjoy the movie “The Super Mario Bros.” last Saturday to celebrate his 60th birthday. Pray that more philanthropists will join us to bless the grassroots families.

Our Ethnic Minorities (EM) Youth Ambassador team will co-organize with a secondary school some volunteer training classes every Thursday in May. The initiative aims to help EM children learn some interesting novel techniques. Pray that we strive to equip our clients so that they adapt to the community more easily.

In addition to the 3-Legged Charity Walk to be held physically on 13 May at the Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club this year, a virtual version was just launched in early May. Pray that a large crowd of participants (both corporate and individuals) would be drawn to support our ministries for the under-privileged families in Hong Kong and the disabled children in Qinghai.

Renovation of the new Mong Kok Service Centre, next to the current one, will begin soon this month. Let’s pray for smooth progress; and that the whole renovation work will be completed on schedule in June.

The rainy season is coming. Please pray for His protection to our Centre for Refugees which is prone to be affected by rainstorms due to its poor infrastructure and the age of the building. Pray that we continue to offer the refugees and asylum seekers a much-needed ‘home away from home’.

This May sees our Social Enterprise Department jointly organizing ESG activities, with two different private corporations, with an emphasis on the Environment, Society and Governance. Pray that our green advocacy effort would further arouse public concern in conserving our environment and God’s creation as a whole.

In the post-pandemic era, our children’s homes in Qinghai co-managed with the local government have resumed their normal activities and training as before. Pray that all initiatives will thrive and continue to improve the overall well-being of the vulnerable children on the Tibetan Plateau.

Over 400 clients of our low-income families service users under the HK Social Services and Humanitarian Programme will participate in our 3-legged charity walk 2023 at the Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club this Saturday! Pray that all of them will enjoy a wonderful time there packed with fun and friendship; and CA will harvest abundantly to sustain our services to the needy. Amen!

Our Sheung Shui Service Centre will conduct a career talk on medical and health care for the clients on welfare benefit next Tuesday morning. In addition, information about industry-related training programmes will be offered. Pray that we strive to empower them to re-enter the job market with vigor and skills.

Our Long Ping Service Centre (LPSC) CDF mentorship programme team will hold 4 meetings for experience sharing and training for the mentors in these 2 months. Pray that we continue to enhance the mentor-and-mentee pairs through different initiatives; and more youth and their families would eventually learn that God has a plan to prosper them; and give them hope even in the midst of adversity.

Our Employment Support Services (EmSS) team has been conducting a series of 4 dessert making classes every Thursday for 12 women on welfare benefits from On Tai Service Centre (OTSC) since mid-May. Pray that all of them will seize the opportunity to get equipped to live out the plan as destined by our Lord. Amen!

Today and tomorrow HKCC will be conducting a seminar on Sinicization of Christianity, an interflow between Christian leaders and scholars across the border; Mrs. Cheung will attend as an Executive Committee member. May God bless the smooth implementation to achieve mutual understanding and learning from each other so as to glorify His name.

Our Training Services Division will launch the first grand job fair this year titled “Warm-up Exercise for career pursuit” 「職業熱身賽」at the Yue Man Square today. It will offer employment opportunities in different sectors, particularly for young graduates. Pray that our consistent effort in providing vocational training programmes and job market information will empower job seekers.

Today 8 client children from our EM Ambassador Programme will visit the Wetland Park in Hong Kong. Pray for the perfect weather and that they will learn more about the HK landscape and get integrated into the city more easily through our ministry.

We have been diversifying our fundraising income in the post-epidemic era. Thank God for connecting us to some more shops and commercial outlets for placing our donation boxes. Pray that we reap a fruitful harvest to sustain our ministries in Hong Kong and Qinghai; and our goodwill will be widespread throughout the city. Amen!

Praise God! Our 9th-phase Child Development Fund (CDF9) project has stepped into its second year. Despite the epidemic, the participants of CDF9 including the mentor-and-mentee pairs and parents enjoyed all the activities organized. Pray that our youth will be enriched to live out their best through the programme; and understand how precious they are in the eyes of Our Lord.

In the past few years, we had to postpone CA’s Official Opening Ceremony for our new Choi Wan headquarters a few times. Today, we have finally rescheduled our opening ceremony. We are so grateful for the abundant support from our donors, clients, Board Members, staff, and volunteers. Special thanks to our Lord who has been guiding us; and providing what we need and enabling us to serve the community in need.

The OTSC has conducted 3 separate workshops known as “Career Searchlight” or 「職業探射燈」under CDF’s mass programme this May. It was targeted to help about 100 student mentees. Pray that we better equip them in mapping out their future; and they praise God for His creation through their self-exploration.
