Our Social Enterprise Department (SED) was grateful to be one of the beneficiaries of the 2025 Book Recycling Programme, after the annual book fair held last month at the HK Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Pray that we can continue to collect good-quality books for the children of our after-school care centres; so that they feel empowered and cared for, through our ministry.

Give thanks! Our On Tai Employment Support Services Centre (OTSC-EmSS)’s job fair “3rd Shot of Job Recruitment Session” held last month was a great success! Over 2,000 jobs from various industries including health care, chain caterers, retailing and others were offered on site; together with workshops covering essential job applications, interviewing skills and mental health. Pray that all participants will regain hope and self-confidence; and secure long-term employment very soon.

This afternoon, the Youth Ministry, a sub-group of the Justice and Social Concern Committee (JSCC), chaired by Mrs. Cheung-Ang Siew Mei JP, our Executive Director, which is one of the sub-committees under the Hong Kong Christian Council (HKCC) will hold a tea gathering to reflect the spiritual implication of the “Culture of Lying Flat” among the young generation with understanding and respect. Pray that we continue to walk closely with the youth through our ministry.

Today the results of the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (a.k.a. JUPAS) will be released. Please pray for the candidates, especially those under our Child Development Fund (CDF) Programme, that they would learn that God has a plan to prosper them, to give them hope and a future. Amen!

This August, our Sheung Shui Service Centre (SSC) will begin its self-financed childcare service for primary school pupils from disadvantaged families. Pray that we continue to fill the service gap for the needy families in the Northern District.

Gratitude goes to all our supporters!
From now to the end of August, a new location will be added to the list of our donation boxes which are usually placed on the counters of chain catering/retailing outlets/institutes. Pray that we can garner enough financial support for our ministries in this difficult moment. Amen!

Our Centre for Refugees (CFR) will launch a summer camp for children this summer. Please pray for its safe and smooth implementation and the community will cherish the memorable moments as we always make good use of our limited manpower and resources for our projects. The CA Alpha Workplace programme will start at our headquarters soon. Pray that all participants will be inspired and uplifted to follow Jesus Christ. The OTSC will conduct a knitting class for ethnic minority (EM) girls this August. Pray that they will broaden their horizons through a variety of interest classes; thus, regaining the courage and confidence to map out their wonderful and brilliant future.

International Youth Day is celebrated annually on 12 August to bring youth issues to the attention of the international community and celebrate the potential of youth as partners in today's global society. Pray that our government will strategize policies to cater for the needs of the younger generation, particularly for those with Special Education Needs (SEN); and that they would be equipped better, to embark on an independent and bright life in the future.

Today our Training Service Division (TSD) will host a job fair named as “勇闖「薪」動向招聘會” in Kowloon Bay to promote the Employee Retraining Board (ERB)’s training and re-training programmes where we will also conduct course enrollments. In parallel, we will offer on-site job applications, interviewing skills and career talks. Hopefully, we will continue to provide demand-oriented training programmes to help the trainees in seeking new jobs or job advancement.

In August, our Child Development Fund (CDF) teams will jointly organize another 2-day camping activity for the mentees. Pray for perfect weather; and that all of them enjoy the precious times and learn self-care, discipline and self-exploration to team building. And they will gradually be coached to seek our Lord and walk in His way with His Word as a guiding light through this 3-year programme. Amen!

Our Ethnic Minorities Youth Ambassador (EMAm) Team has run two rounds of art activities to stimulate our clients’ creativity, self-expression, and appreciation of God’s creation. Pray that all EM youth will be enriched by the enjoyable moments; and realize how special they are in the eyes of Our Lord.

Today our Long Ping Service Centre (LPSC) will run an oil painting class for mentor-and-mentee pairs. Pray that they cherish the sweet memories; and the mentees will eventually be coached to seek God through this impactful programme.

Please pray for another shelter client under the Migrant Domestic Workers (MDWs) programme who will have her hearing at the Labour Tribunal this month which has been pending for more than a year. May His presence, providence and comfort be with her especially during this time of struggle and anxiety; and her court case will also be settled and resolved soon. Amen!

After the renovation of Choi Yuen Training Centre, the Information and Technology Department has started installing the computer system, projector, CCTV and other peripheries for office and ERB’s classrooms as well. Please pray that all the work will be safely completed on schedule, which will effectively improve our quality of services.

Our EMAm Team is conducting Henna class, different board games, and sports including Carrom, dodgeball, badminton and others for its EM clients. Pray that all participants will learn better communication skills, muster up the courage to face future challenges and feel loved and cared for in the community.

The Café Corner for health care workers in our SSC has launched different activities to do with board games, horticulture, music therapy and others this month. Pray that we would aid the welfare benefit recipients to improve their inter-personal skills and relieve their stress and learn how to shed their burden to our Lord as He cares for every one of us. Amen!

Some of our youth clients on welfare benefits have to face a change in their status after DSE, as they may either opt for further study or join the job market. Pray that as we strive to deliver warmth and hope for them, they will be coached to seek God as their divine deliverer and provider.

Over the summer vacation, many of our child clients under our afterschool childcare programme returned to their hometowns in mainland China; and will be back soon. Pray for their safe and smooth trips; and come back to HK with a recharged and refreshed spirit. Amen!

Please pray for our Administration and IT teams as their services may not be easily “noticed,” but their support is indispensable to the smooth operation and future development of CA particularly when AI has been penetrating our daily life. This month, our SED has conducted some green collection events in various private housing estates in Kowloon. Pray that lots of used and good quality items will be collected. These will be sold in our various charity outlets, and the income will be used to support our meaningful work.

The Chief Executive of the HKSAR will deliver his fourth Policy Address next month. Please pray for His divine wisdom, creativity and sensitivity for the government authorities so as to tactfully deal with challenges, seen and unseen. May God also nurture our spiritual well-being. Amen!
